A good WWI Brodie's Patent steel helmet, with liner (patent stamp faint), leather chinstrap, and original pale khaki linen cover, GC (the crown dented). As it is not possible to remove the linen cover the outside has not been examined, but it appears to have a very rough textured olive green finish. Plate 6

A 1796 pattern heavy cavalry trooper’s sword, shallow fullered blade 34½”, marked “Osborn” on backstrap, with inspector’s stamp in fuller at forte, pierced disc guard, diamond shaped reinforce with quillon, broad knucklebow, plain rounded pommel and backstrap with ears to leather (worn) covered grip, buff leather sword knot, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings, the knucklebow marked “E/19” (unclear), the top of the scabbard engraved with “RD” monogram. Basically GC for age (some wear and cleaned bright overall).

A very scarce US Contract P1853 Enfield socket bayonet, triangular section 17” blade marked “Forrest & Taylor” and view stamp, socket stamped “1”. In its original brass mounted leather scabbard, top mount and black leather body both bear “US” stamps. GC (some pitting to bayonet).
