With two lateral plates and one, bigger, upper plate, to which a shoulder protective plate is connected, decorated with two cannellini and rhombus at the center, provided with a neckline and two small, lateral, cusp-shaped plates. All the plates are kept together with iron, riveted rings mail., height circa 50 cm.
Inscribed sling-shot Magna Graecia, 4th – 3rd century BC; lungh. cm 5; A terracotta ovoid sling-shot with Greek inscriptions. On reverse, a stamp with a male figure, partially cloacked and holding a small curved rod, probably a sling. Πρώ(τα) φυλἀ φα̣(τρία) Ῥ̣ιπεα̣(...) Δαμάτριος Πυρίνου The inscription (in Dorian, ancient Greek dialect) bears a proper name, accompanied by the patronymic. It belonging to a military commander or to a soldier; is preceded by the number of one of the three civic tribes (phyle) in which his city was divided, and by the name of his social division group (phratria). Sling-shots are small objects (leaden or terracotta) used in war during Greek and Roman periods; they are real bullets used by slingers against enemies. Often sling-shots bears inscriptions with names of cities in war, kings, military commanders, artisans, or victory cheers. PROVENANCE: English private collection, acquired on the London art market in the 1980s.

A Victorian Serpent Necklace, the body of graduated articulated links, to a head set with a foil backed cabochon garnet and featuring cabochon garnet eyes, a later cabochon garnet set drop suspended from the mouth, length 42cm, including drop, in fitted case, see illustration The necklace is in good condition. It fastens with a tongue and concealed box clasp. The pendant drop is later. It bears no hallmark, nor stamp. Gross weight 16.6 grams. CR made 22nd November 2016.
An Emerald and Diamond Spray Brooch, set with round cut emeralds and round brilliant cut diamonds, as sprigs tied with a ribbon effect motif and diamond cluster 'knot', total estimated diamond weight 7.00 carat approximately, measures 5.5cm by 7.8cm see illustration The brooch is in good condition. The pins have been repaired. It fastens with a double pin catch, one with a push barrel end piece, and features a safety chain. It bears no hallmark, nor stamp, possibly platinum. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour I/J/K, clarity SI1/SI2/I1. Gross weight 31.8 grams. Condition Report made 21th November 2016.
