A .656 PATTERN 1858 BENGAL MOUNTED POLICE TYPE PERCUSSION CARBINE, serial no 1268, circa 1860, with 20in. barrel, block and blade front-sight and fixed vee rear-sight, swivel rammer hinged at muzzle, faint Government proofs at breech, the lock with Crown V.R. cypher on the tail and '1860 / TOWER' spuriously stamped to the centre, regulation brass mounted full walnut stock, side rib and ring, the right side of the butt stamped with a very faint Government roundel and a Maharaja's armoury stamp (possibly Gwalior), the left side with the number 1268, action at fault.
