A group of six World War Two medals awarded to Private John King Buthlay, No 2880628, Army Air Corps (3rd Parachute Regiment) to include 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the War Medal, together with a Fairbarn-Sykes Second Pattern 'Fighting Knife', with a brass knurled or checkered grip with a rounded pommel and a 2 inch wide oval cross guard stamped B2 and with a broad arrow, the blade not engraved and shortened in length, measuring 6.5 inches (16.5cm), overall length 29cm, complete with a partial metal tipped leather scabbard, lacking mounting straps.Private John King Buthlay served with the 3rd Parachute Regiment and was captured at Arnhem during Operation Market Garden. He was then interned at the German camp Stalag X1.B. He eventually escaped with other members of the regiment making it back to friendly lines. The collection includes relevant paperwork and Red Cross letters, telegrams to his wife and a signed 20 Mark Reischmark paper note by other soldiers. There is also a presentation book given to the family members of the 3rd Parachute Regiment who were believed to have died and his R.A.O.B enamelled jewels for the Eric Knight Lodge dated 1958.
An 1821 pattern Royal Artillery Officers sword by Fenton Brothers Ltd. Sheffield. In leather mounted scabbard and with wirework and shagreen grip. Blade with proof stamp and etched with emblems of the Royal Artillery, Royal Coat of Arms, George V cipher and makers stamp. Blade length 89cm. Blade firmly fixed with no movement. Pommel firmly in place. Blade free from bends and notches. Some pitting to the metal and leather wear.
A WWII ERA 'FAIRBURN-SYKES' COMMANDO/SPECIAL FORCES DAGGER, this example is a 'Type 3' with ringed type alloy grip, the blade is the later 'thin type' machine ground and does not have maker marks, but is stamped '2' on the top of the grip, the leather scabbard is original with metal tip, but missing the two leather attachments midway down the scabbard, looks as though they have been cut off, blade and dagger overall display lovely patinCondition Report All the marks listed in the description are the only ones on the dagger

Cutlass, curved blade of approximately 23'', no makers marks apparent and wooden/metal grip shows heavy signs of deterioration, Eastern/Arabic short dagger in wooden and metal scabbard, blade is approximately 15'' long, scabbard is red wood with metal bands, and wooden grip has been fashioned and coloured with gold coloured hints, small brass gripped ceremonial 'Buglers/Dummers' sword and scabbard, blade is 13'' and has proof marks, and what appears to be a makers mark which is obscured by grip, the grip has the marks GR VI in a square cartouche on both sides, scabbard is leather with metal fittings for a belt 'frog'

A George III 1796 pattern British light cavalry trooper's sabre by Wolley & Sargant, early 19th century (probably made circa 1815 for the 100 Days War culminating in the Battle of Waterloo), the 80cm single edge curved and fullered steel blade lightly engraved and gilded with the Royal Coat of Arms, charging cavalryman and floral and foliate motifs against a patinated ground, maker's name engraved to the top edge, the stirrup hilt with pierced sword knot slit, with wire bound grip and plain pommel, with associated steel scabbard Condition Report: The hilt guard shows evidence of a soldered repair below the sword knot slit. The wire binding to the grip appears to have stretched in places, but is still attached. The blade is secure in the hilt. The blade shows wear to the patination and engraving. There are a couple of small notches to the cutting edge of the blade. The blade appears to be straight. Weight of sword without scabbard approx 794g.
