An important and historical Scottish basket hilt broadsword, the straight double edged blade with single fuller engraved with an inscription "Yas Suerd Was Brukyt Be Ht Cameron At Ye Battailly Off Stirlyng Bryg MCCXCVII And Bannockburn MCCCXIIII & Feill Melle" (This Sword Was Enjoyed By Ht Cameron At The Battles Of Sterling Bridge 1297 And Bannockburn 1314 And Many Skirmishes), length of blade 81cm, the full basket hilt profusely decorated with kite shaped and round piercings on both the main knuckle guard and both side guards (possibly a sterling hilt by William Allan), the pommel with rope twist design decoration, the crossguard engraved with the following inscription "Yas Thrusande Cliff Off Mettell Gud Aeft Tynt Three Hits Shynn In Saxonys Blud" (This Smashing Cleaver Of Good Metal Often Lost Its Shine In Saxons Blood). This sword is complete with a leather a metal scabbard; the translation was provided by Chris Robinson, of The Scottish Language Dictionaries, Edinburgh (af).
