An Early 20th Century Constabulary Sabre Truncheon, constructed of wood bound with twine, now painted black, the leather guard stamped GIDDEN and with leather wrist strap, 91.5cm **Issued to mounted Police officers from the 1920's, they would originally have been white and had a scabbard from which they were drawn like a sword. This example was reputedly found at a South Yorkshire pit after it closed following the Miner's Strike in the 1980's

The engraved inscription to the hilt is worn but visible. There is pitting to the hilt, the grip and the binding is good. The leather scabbard is a little shabby.
