Brass quillon & muzzle ring unmarked. 48.5cm blade has etchings to both sides, polished overall, with trophies of arms, floral designs, motto ‘Mitt Gott Für Kaiser’, imperial eagle etc. Maker stamped W. Wellhausen of Hannover. Retains brass & leather scabbard, free of any damage or issues. Good piece nicely etched

Leather & black enamel scabbard, with London made 1902 dated leather scabbard. Could well have been issued for use to Queensland Boer War contingents.

WW1 German 98/05 S ‘sawback’ Pattern Bayonet, with Scabbard by V. C. Schilling dated 1911. Metal birds head pommel, with working release button, with good grooved wooden grips, with metal guard retaining ‘high ears’. Prussian W issued & 1911 dated swollen ‘butcher’ blade with very fine condition saw back edge, with maker stamp V. C. Schilling Suhl. Fits into the leather & metal scabbard. Very good condition overall, this being the type made famous in the novel ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, where the Germans were warned not to be caught by the British with these otherwise they would face execution as a result.

1796 Pattern British Army Light Cavalry Officer’s sword & scabbard. Metal stirrup hilt, with plain backstrap and wooden grip, with majority of the wire wrap present. Plain langets & quillon. Plain 65cm long curved slashing blade, having been period sharpened for field use. One very small nick to edge, however the blade is in stunning condition overall. Metal scabbard in good condition, with light wear, having had one of its suspension posts removed. Overall length 76cm.

Lot 468

Features ornate root wood grip, carved in basket weave fashion on the outside, cast silver and chased pommel with thistles and foliage, the pierced pommel set with a yellow citrine/stone. The unmarked 34.4cm long blade, being of steel, double edged to tip, with circular pierced cutting top edge. Retains leather washer and shows light wear & spotting, but generally good. The scabbard of brown leather, showing much wear, with solid silver mounted thistle engraved mouthpiece with silver belt loops to rear, along with one thistle decorated silver mounting point (one missing), housing the eating fork & knife of root wood with basket weave design & set purple & white stones, bottom silver drag, with the leather complete but quite pliable, in need of stiffening.

1796 Pattern British Army Light Cavalry Trooper’s sword & scabbard by Woolley & Deakin of Birmingham. Metal stirrup hilt, with plain, semi pitted backstrap and worn shellacked wooden grip. Plain langets & quillon. Large plain 84cm long curved slashing blade, having been period sharpened for field use, stamped 1 with royal crown to ricasso and Woolley &…(Woolley & Deakin, Birmingham) #8 to blade spine. Field service blade, showing use, beautiful sharp edge & generally good condition overall. Metal scabbard missing throat attachment, retaining both suspension posts and rings in generally good condition, with light service wear. Overall length: 99cm.

Retains riveted leather scabbard, retaining grip snaps and maker stamped J. W. TRATHEN & CO. PTY. LTD. SYDNEY and dated 1943.

Features a brass grip, with beaded & ribbed guard, showing use and some nicks overall. 15 cm long double edged blade, with obvious service wear & scratches. The brown leather scabbard is a private purchase piece, the type often seen in use by Australian forces during WW2.

Features a brass grip, with beaded & ribbed guard, showing light use overall, arrow stamped 6. 17 cm long double edged blued blade, with a very nice finish and perfect spear point. The brown leather scabbard retains leg straps, brass end cap & elastic grip suspender, stamped England to leather belt loop portion. A very fine condition piece, touted as an ‘export’ model for use by US & Commonwealth Special Forces, however many of these were issued to British S.F. including L.R.D.G. & S.A.S.

All wooden grip, with metal swollen kukri blade, showing issue stamp, in very good condition. Leather scabbard shows splits to sides, with both skinning knives present. 

Lot 479

The knife features a robust grip, made from stacked polished leather, with recessed thumb and finger grip points, with all brass flat pommel & oval shaped cross guard. The 18cm long Parkerised steel blade, features a large blood groove ‘cut out’ to both sides, sharpened blade edge and ‘false edge’ blade tip. Maker marked with the manufacturer details of J. Nowill & Sons of Sheffield (England) & the "Star of David" etched into the base of the handle. Comes with the black leather scabbard.
