A 19th Century sidearm, curved single-edged blade 26 1/4 in.with ‘false’ back edge for the last 9 1/2 in. and a single broad fuller to each side, marked for Mole and Sons Birmingham and bearing Indian ordnance marks, stirrup hilt with brass knuckle bow and pommel, ribbed cast iron grip, leather scabbard, possibly for use by police or customs officers.
An unusual cavalry trooper’s sword, of the British 1821 type but with some variations, slightly curved blade 35 1/4 in. with a broad fuller to 8 1/4 in. from the point, ricasso marked ‘V.W.’ and with crowned inspection mark of ‘L’ over ‘8’, three bar hilt, plain back strap with smooth pommel, ribbed leather covered grip, steel scabbard with two suspension rings.
