AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF A RARE SERBIAN KNIFE FOR USE WITH THE 8MM YUGOSLAVIAN M1948 MAUSER RIFLE CLOSELY PATTERNED AFTER THE GERMAN WWII8MM MAUSER K98K RIFLE. THE M1948 BAYONET WAS A SHORT VERSION OF THE PRE-WWII M1924 BAYONET, ADOPTED WHEN YUGOLSLAVIA REBUILT THE VOJNO TAHNICKI (MILITARY TECHNICAL INSTITUTE) FACTORY, WHICH WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED DURINT THE SECOND WORLD WAR BY THE GERMANS. THE CRYLLIC MARKING ON THE BLADRE IN A SEMI-CIRCLE OVER THE NUMBER 44 SHOWS THIS BAYONET IS PRE 1950 AND MANUFACTURTED IN THE ZAVODI CRVENA ZASTAVA (RED FLAG WORKS) KRAGUJEVAC, SERBIA WHICH IS STILL OPERATING TODAY. THE BAYONET IS AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY MADE AND STILL HAS GREASE ON THE BLADE. IT HAS MATCHING SERIAL NUMBER 78544 ON THE CROSSPIECE OF THE BAYONETAND ON THE FROG STUD WITH A 44 IN A TRIANGLE ON THE SCABBARD. THE VENDOR WAS GIVEN THIS BAYONET BY A SENIOR OFFICER IN THE BOSNIAN SERB ARMY AS A GIFT WHILST SERVING THERE AS AN OFFICER IN THE NATO STABILISATION FORCE (SFOR).
Victorian Thornhill & Co, London, Gentleman’s Combination Fob Sheath Bowie Knife, the steel blade signed Thornhill London under a crown and VR, the blade also marked HAM KNIFE, with a cork screw and hook to the wide chequer grip, the grip also with the name plaque Lord Charles Bruce, housed within a leather scabbard. Captain Lord Charles William Brudenell-Bruce PC (18 June 1834 – 16 April 1897), was a British soldier and Liberal Party politician. Two Third Reich National Hunting Association (Deutschen Jagerschaft) miniature presentation daggers, Goring was the head of the National Hunting Association as National Hunting Master (Reichsjagermeister). The first dagger has a stag horn handle and has an overall length of 24 cm, on the blade is stamped the maker mark for J.A Henckels and the words Nicht Rostend, the decorative chape on the scabbard bears the inscription Weinachten 1937 on one side and the signature of Hermann Goring on the other. The second dagger has an overall length of 22 cm and has a stag horn handle, the blade is etched with hunting scenes and on one side of the ricasso is stamped the Alcoso maker mark of Alexander Coppel of Solingen, the top of the scabbard bears the inscription Saujagd Spessart 1938 ( Boar hunt Spessart 1938), these knives came from the same vendor as the Milch cigar box, (2)

A German Third Reich Naval Officer's Dirk,, the double edge steel blade with two narrow fullers to each side, etched with a fouled anchor and entwined dolphins, with maker's mark for E.u.F. Horster, Solingen, the brass hilt with wrythen fluted cream plastic grip, lacks wire binding, the brass scabbard engraved with lightning bolts. Blade greased, but with pitting towards the tip. Wire binding missing from grip. Scabbard has traces of original gilt, with three dents to one side.

Small areas of black spotting to blade, which is greasy. Wear to paint on the hilt. There are three and four dents to each side of the scabbard, which is rust pitted. There is no securing spring clip to the hilt although the scabbard has a hole to accomodate one.

Some pitting and edge nicks to blade. Wear to paint on hilt. Jungle cover of scabbard is coming unstitched at the shoe, no visible dents.

Grey patching to blade, with numerous nicks to the edge. Some bruising to leather scabbard. Generally in good used condition. The press-stud strap does not quite reach the stud.

Wear to grip. Scabbard with a number of dents and lacking the mouthpiece.
