OF WATERLOO AND KING'S GERMAN LEGION INTEREST - AN ENGLISH OFFICER'S HORSE'S HEAD POMMEL SWORD, 75.5cm pipe backed blade, gilt stirrup hilt decorated with acanthus scrolls, horse's head pommel, gilt wire bound leather grip, contained in its steel scabbard, engraved U: LINSINGEN S/I U: ESTORF 27Mz 1816. Unfortunately the list for the King's German Legion contains several Linsingens and Estrofs with the same initials.
A RARE AND UNUSUAL 1796 PATTERN HEAVY CAVALRY TROOPER'S SWORD, 88cm blade with spear point, retaining most of its original polish, regulation pierced steel disc hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard, leather covered wooden grip, contained in its steel scabbard. This scarce example of the sought after Heavy Cavalry Disc Hilt appears significantly smaller and lighter in proportions, perhaps for an NCO.

A VICTORIAN 1821 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD, 91cm blade etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cyphers, maker's initials for Gardiner & Co. further etched with owners crest and motto LUX IN TENEBRIS and entwined owner's initials (SHF), regulation three-bar steel hilt, ribbed fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. The crest is that of the Scottish Family Fullerton - a member of that family served with the Warwickshire Regiment, The Royal Irish Lancers and the 13th Hussars - Grey D'Estoteville Herbert Fullerton - although the initials do not correspond.
A VICTORIAN ROYAL ARTILLERY OFFICER'S 1821 PATTERN SWORD, 90cm blade by MOLE & SONS, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher and regimental devices, regulation steel three-bar hilt, wire bound fishskin grip. Note the quality of the etching is higher than usual and the rayskin has not been polished smooth, remaining chunky, no scabbard.

A small note accompanying the dirk states it was worn at the conference of Aqaba in 1925.

AN 1816 PATTERN RIFLEMAN'S OR PIONEER'S SHORT SWORD OR SIDEARM, 55.5cm curved blade by REEVES, with double edged clipped back point, regulation brass stirrup hilt with Lion's head pommel and ribbed grip, contained in its brass mounted leather scabbard. Reeve's was not a contractor for the manufacture of these items - possibly a tender for the contract that failed (stress crack to the edge) which would explain the lack of saw back and the retention of its original polish.

A GOOD 18TH CENTURY RHINOCEROS HILTED NIMCHA, 82.5cm curved European blade etched with an inscription to either side NO ME EN BAINES SIN HONOR and NO ME SAIVES SIN RAISON, characteristic hilt with traces of gilt decoration, white metal collar and angular carved grip, contained in its leather wrapped wooden scabbard.
A 19TH CENTURY CHINESE JIAN OR SHORT SWORD, 45cm flattened diamond section blade incised with a wavy line and seven inset copper dots to either side, characteristic hilt with lion's mask crossguard and embossed pommel set with a turquoise to either side, contained in its brass mounted fishskin wrapped wooden scabbard.
A LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY WOOTZ BLADED TULWAR, 78.5cm curved Wootz blade decorated with a panel of foliate silver inlay at the forte, characteristic hilt with scroll guard, domed crossguard terminals, disc pommel, the whole with good traces of silvered decoration, contained in its silver mounted leather wrapped wooden scabbard, the mounts finely decorated with scrolling foliage and flower heads.
A LATE 19TH OR EARLY 20TH CENTURY WHITE METAL SINHALESE OR CEYLONESE PIHA KAETTA, 25cm heavy section blade with reinforced brass forte, characteristic white metal hilt with open mouthed simah pommel, the whole embossed with scrolling foliage and set with eight faceted garnets, contained in its foliate embossed white metal scabbard further applied with eight faceted garnets, complete with companion pick, together s similar smaller example and four further crude knives. From an established West Country collection. (6)
TWO 19TH CENTURY MALAY OR SUMATRAN DAGGERS, the first with 22cm curved watered blade chiselled and pierced at the forte, characteristic carved wooden hilt with foliate carved decoration highlighted in guilt, contained in its carved wooden scabbard decorated to match, together with 18.5cm curved heavy blade, plain horn hilt and contained in its bone mounted wooden scabbard. Some old worm to the latter. (2)
