A diver's knife by Siebe Heinke, England:, 8 inch double edged blade signed as per title, brass hilt and black Bakelite handle, in a brass scabbard. *Note- The etching on the blade reads 'Siebe Heinke England'. This dates the knife to 1962 when Heinke was taken over by Siebe Gorman. The dual names were only used for 2 to 3 years before the Heinke name was dispensed with. * see page 107, vol 2, 'Diving Helmets and Equipment Through The Ages'.
A Heinke pattern diver's knife:, the 6 1/4 inch single edge blade with cast brass handle in a reduced scabbard, 37.5cm overall length. *Note-Purchased from a retired Standard Diver called Parslow. As he was only 5ft 3ins tall the ordinary Heinke sheath stuck into his leg. A short sword or dagger in white-metal mounted scabbard; the bone or ivory hilt also white-metal mounted and probably stamped EIII; the blade similarly stamped, overall length 53 cm, probably Central Asian or Cossack Condition Report The damage includes areas of deterioration to the blade, scabbard and hilt.
A late 19th Century Persian Talwar kukri, the shaped blade etched and gilt with elephants and figures, leaf design to grip, red cloth covered scabbard, 56cms (22in.) long; together with an Indo Persian axe, the crescent-shaped head engraved with geometric forms and stylised birds, spike back, mounted to a wooden grip, 61cms (24in.) high. A British Artillery sword bayonet, 1879 pattern, the blade with saw back, on hilt of bow guard and chequer cut grip, 26in. (66cms) long (missing sword tip); together with a French chassepot rifle bayonet, circa 1866, the single-edged shaped blade above steel hook quillon and brass grip, 70cms (27 1/2in.) long overall (no scabbard); another with scabbard; and a socket bayonet with cruciform blade, 20in. (51cms). (4)
A late 19th Century Italian hanger, the double-edged curved blade etched with leaf scrolls, the hilt having a steel cross guard with ball terminals and bone grip with roundel decoration, fitted a metal mounted leather scabbard, 19in. (49cms) long; together with a 20th Century Scottish Highland dirk, the steel blade with fuller and grooves, checker cut ebonised wooden grip and faceted glass pommel, 46cms (18in.) (no scabbard).
A German Second World War Kriegsmarine dagger, by Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen, the double-edged etched blade above brass hilt with reeded cross guard and anchor decoration, wire bound ivorine grip and eagle pommel, complete with cord and knot, brass scabbard with etched decoration and oak leaf bands holding hanging loops, 16 3/4in. (42.5cms) long overall.
First World War bayonets, to include: two German Muser bayonets model 98/05, one by A-G, Duisburg, with metal scabbard and leather frog; the other by Simson & Co., no scabbard; a French Lebel epee bayonet, with cruciform blade, hook quillon, nickel grip and metal scabbard, 26in. (66cms) overall; a British 1907 pattern bayonet, the single-edged fullered blade on an oak mounted hilt, with leather and metal scabbard 22 1/2in. (57cms). (4)
A mid 19th Century Malayan kris, the shaped blade on a hilt with brass collar decorated with leaf designs and Sumatran wooden grip carved as a stylised garuda bird, 11 3/4in. (30cms) long; a Persian Khanjar, late 19th Century, the shaped double- edged blade on a bone hilt, the metal mounted scabbard with glass cabouchon decoration, 10 1/2in. (27cms) long overall; and an African knife, the tapering double-edged blade on leather grip with leather scabbard, 12in. (30cms) long overall. (3)
*A French Infantry Officer's dress sword, c.1860, the diamond-shaped tapering blade on giltmetal hilt, the scrolling guard decorated with a classical chariot scene beside a helmeted bust quillon, the bow knuckle guard of acanthus design with beast terminal, mother-of-pearl mounted grip surrounded by foliate motifs, terminating in lion mask pommel, giltmetal mounted brown leather scabbard with velvet frog and cloth belt, 36in (92cms) overall.
