A presentation Kukri knife, early 20th century, typical curved blade with ring turned flared wooden handle, within an elaborate scabbard bearing various Nepalese beasts, the silver collar with writhing dragon above a silver masked pendant, silver diamond form overlay to tip, with silver wire hanging strap with attached silver roundel with fierce mask design, secured pouch containing bone handled Karda and flint pouch.
A collection of Gurkha interest pin badges / brooches, including a silver kukri with removable scabbard; a plain silver kukri; a yellow metal kukri; two silver and one 15ct gold crossed kukris for the 7th GR regiment; and another with crossed swords and leopard's head with gem set eyes, WW2 inscription verso. A 19th / early 20th century Kukri knife, of typical form, turned wooden handle with flared top, in leather scabbard with two secured pouches, one containing two chakmaks and a karda, the other containing a leather flint pouch; together with a similar kukri in leather scabbard; and a later miniature example with 7th Gurkha Regiment presentation plaque. A presentation Kukri knife for the 7th Gurkha Rifles, early 20th century, typical curved blade with ring turned flared ivory handle, within an elaborate scabbard, the upper section with silver pierced foliate design and centralised regimental insignia for the 7th GR above a silver pendant infilled with floral and foliate decoration, the scabbard tip with elongated silver diamond decorated with repousse floral design, silver wire hanging strap with attached floral roundel bearing red coral to centre.
WW2 Japanese Cavalry Sword, chequered wooden grip with steel guard and back strap. Catch release to the back of the grip, machine made blade with fuller to the back edge, blade numbered 11134. Housed in the original scabbard with single ring fitting. Exterior shows heavy wear but the blade is in very good condition.
WW2 Japanese NCO’s Sword, with brown painted one piece handle, plain brass tsuba. Housed in re-painted steel scabbard. Machine made polished blade with blood groove down the lenth of the back side. Stamped with numbers 40914. Blade measures 69 ¼cms in length and remains in generally good condition.
Chinese Qing Dynasty ‘Ox Tail’ Sabre, 19th century, broad single edge blade swollen towards the tip and cut with a pair of fullers, iron guard with down-turned edges and iron pommel, grip bound with cotton tape, in its wooden scabbard covered with black textured leather, sewn seam, iron mounts including banded hanging brackets and pierced chape. Blade length 83cms. Good untouched condition.
Chinese Qing Dynasty ‘Ox Tail’ Sabre, 19th century, broad polished single edge blade swollen towards the tip and cut with a pair of fullers, iron guard with down-turned edges and swollen brass pommel, brass ferule, cotton tape bound grip, in its brass mounted lacquered scabbard bound with fine iron wire, chape and locket with shaped edges. Blade length 77cms. Good untouched condition.
Pair of 19th Century Chinese River Pirates Swords, broad tapered single edge blades with false edges, D-shaped brass guards, hardwood grips with brass mounts, both contained in their single leather scabbard. Blades 37cms. Good condition, requires cleaning overall, tip of scabbard slightly damaged.
Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Swords, Late 19th Century, straight shallow diamond section double edge blades inlaid with brass galaxy, fluted polished horn grips, brass crosspieces cast with dragon masks, cast brass mounts, in their sanded fish skin covered scabbard with brass mounts including a dragon and an inscription. Blades 44cms, overall in their scabbard 67cms. Good condition and excellent age patina.
Late Qing Dynasty Chinese Short Sword, Late 19th Century, straight double edge blade , brass mounts decorated overall with pairs of bats and pictograms, fluted hardwood grip, `in its wooden scabbard with matching brass mounts. Blade 41cms, overall in scabbard 60cms. Good condition, scabbard covering now missing.
Unusual Chinese Sword Jian, straight double edge blade of shallow diamond section, brass hilt, the grip engraved on both sides with extensive inscriptions, brass cage-work top, plain brass mounts to matching hardwood scabbard, the front mounts applied with a stylised dragon and a pierced seal, probably first half of the 20th century. Blade 62cms. Good untouched condition.
^ Good Quality North Indian ‘Khyber Knife’, early 19th century, pattern welded T-section blade of conventional form cut with an assortment of narrow fullers, back edge deeply engraved with an armoury number 6 (or 9!), iron gripstrap nicely decorated with gold koftgari foliage, 2 piece ivory grips of good colour each cut with a pair of grooves. In its green velvet covered scabbard with silver chape and gold koftgari decorated mouthpiece. Blade 53cms. Late 18th or Early 19th Century Punjabi Sword Tulwar, broad curved single edge baled cut with two fullers, iron hilt covered with silver koftgari decoration, vacant raised silver lenticular devices, Persian inscription under disc pommel, in associated leather covered scabbard. Blade 79cms. Good condition, age worn overall, disc pommel slightly loose.

Blade 79cms. Good condition, blade worn and cleaned with sham Damascus watering, a little rust to hilt and some wear to koftgari.
Very Unusual Anglo-Indian Cavalry Officer’s Number 2 Fighting Sword c.1800, broad curved single edge blade etched with remains of ‘Do not draw me without reason, Nor replace me without honour’ motto (in French or Spanish), iron guard and pommel of 1796 pattern, chequered one piece rhinoceros horn grip, in its black leather covered wooden scabbard with silver/copper alloy chape. Blade 32.5” Good untouched condition, some age wear, scabbard split along cutting edge.
Unusual Indian Short Sword from Rajasthan, probably 18th century, curved single edge blade cut with assorted fullers and riveted to the shaped iron forte, iron knuckle bow, wooden hilt inlaid with engraved bone pieces, in its leather covered wooden scabbard [incomplete]. Blade 64cms. Good condition, age worn overall, pommel incomplete.

Unusual Early 19th Century Afghan Sword Pulouar, heavy blade pattern welded with close narrow slightly raised ladder pattern [close rungs] and deeply struck with maker’s devices, double edged towards tip, iron hilt of conventional form with fluted pommel, stylised lion head quillon finials with pierced mouths and raised eyes, pierced langet finials, facetted grip, the hilt additionally secured to the blade with a rivet and a pair of silver rosettes. In its tooled black leather covered wooden scabbard with facetted iron chape en-suite with hilt. Blade 72cms. Good condition.
Silver Mounted 19th Century Ottoman Dagger Bichaq, polished blade with gold inscription and foliate decoration, silver hilt and scabbard embossed and chased with rococo and floral decoration, splayed pommel ears, elaborate copper top to scabbard. Blade 23.5cms, overall in scabbard 40cms. Fine untouched condition.
Tuaraeg Sword Takouba, broad double edge blade 84cms, leather covered hilt with layered metal pommel, in its tooled leather scabbard; Sudanese Mahdist period shortsword, tapered blade 58cms, engraved with geometric designs and 2 scorpions, crocodile skin covered hilt and scabbard; Mandingo sword, curved blade 57cms, engraved aluminium guard, spiral wooden grip, the leather scabbard and hanging mounts all finely worked with coloured woven fibre geometric designs; 2 assorted ethnographic club handles; a good African spear on brass mounted hardwood haft; and the head and haft of another. All 19th century and good condition.
^ Good Attributed Georgian Officers Blued and Gilt Sword with Connections to the Battle of Pulo Aura, South China Seas 1804, curved single edge blade cut with a single broad fuller, blued gilt and etched with crowned GR, military trophy, flowers, foliage and banner etched WARRANTED for half length, gilt brass stirrup hilt, lion’s head pommel, chequered and fluted one piece ivory grip, in its leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. Blade 29”. Good condition, hilt retains most original gilding, gilt to scabbard mounts mostly worn. Sword was purchased by the current vendor from the family of Captain Hamilton, East India Company. The sword comes with a hand written history of his service and this sword, “This sword was presented to Captain Hamilton for his part in repelling an attack by a French naval force in the straits of Malacca in 1804”. The Battle of Pulo Aura, took place on the 14th February 1804 between well armed merchant ships of the East India Company and a heavily gunned French naval squadron commanded by French Admiral Charles-Alexandre Léon Durand, Comte de Linois. The East India Company ships were commanded by Commodore Nathaniel Dance, it was Dances heroic and aggressive tactics in the action which led to the French fleet retiring from the action after a short engagement. Not content with the French fleet retiring from the action, Dance then ordered his ships to chase the French fleet off until they were safe to continue their voyage to India. The paperwork states that in Captain Hamilton’s signal log, he states that all Captains involved in this action were presented with a ceremonial sword for saving the fleet and its cargo, “This naval engagement in the family was known as the Battle of the China Seas”. They go onto state that they originally owned a miniature of Captain Hamilton but this was stolen, vendor states this is why he was able to purchase the sword from the family. A very interesting sword presented for a small naval engagement in the South China Seas during the Napoleonic wars.Please note a CITES certificate will need to be acquired for export outside of the European Union. Items containing Ivory can not be shipped to countries where this is banned.
Continental Cavalry Trooper’s Sword Based on the British 1796 Pattern, early 19th century, slightly curved single edge blade cut with a deep single fuller, regulation iron stirrup hilt, pommel with distinctive engraved lines, riveted ears to leather covered grip (grip wire incomplete), in its steel scabbard with 2 hanging rings. Blade 33.5” Good condition, preserved under a layer of old dried varnish.
1885 Pattern Cavalry Trooper’s Sword, regulation blade extensively marked including issue stamps for 1886 and 1889, inspectors’ stamps, WD broad arrow, D.L., YC, regulation hilt with 11H erased, and 7.89 Y O. X 229 (Oxfordshire Yeomanry Cavalry) and the identical markings repeated on the scabbard plus MOLE PATENT. Blade 34.5”. Good condition.
Imperial German Infantry Officer’s Sword, slightly curved blade cut with 2 fullers and finely etched and gilt with geometrical patterns for first 8” with laurel along back edge, polished iron hilt pierced with 2 pairs of scrolls, iron gripstrap, fish skin covered grip with brass wire binding, in its leather scabbard with nickel mounts. Blade 81cms. Good condition and age patina.
French M1833 Naval Boarding Cutlass, 19th century, broad slightly curved polished single edge blade cut with a broad fuller, etched with traces of anchors, back edge with Manufre Rle de Chatellerault 7bre 1847, with makers stamps at forte, regulation black painted iron hilt and grip with various stamps and markings, in its black leather scabbard with brass mounts each stamped 19 and B within cartouches. Blade 67cms. Good untouched condition.
Rare 19th century Italian Officer’s Sword, pipe back plated blade signed G.Perez, Verona, and deeply etched with crowned VRI cipher together with extensive military trophies, large iron guard pierced and engraved overall with foliage and incorporating the crowned VRI cipher, plain iron grip strap, copper wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its plated steel scabbard with 2 suspension rings. Blade 85cms. Good untouched condition, blade retains virtually all its original plating, some wear to scabbard plating. This sword was possibly produced for an Italian bodyguard for Queen Victoria during one of her visits to Italy, but we have not been able to 100% confirm this.
Unidentified Military Sword, second half of the 19th century, blade slightly curved and cut with 2 fullers, stamped ARNA, regulation brass stirrup hilt, slightly swollen guard, grip of polished horn [wire binding missing], in its steel scabbard, drag stamped with the maker's initials C&C.L. within a shield. This sword shares many features with some contemporary American swords. Blade 75cms. Good untouched condition, dried oil coating.

1827 Pattern Royal Navy Officers Dress Sword, brass dish guard having fouled anchor with kings crown above. Fishskin grip retaining the original grip wire. Lion head top pommel incorporating the back strap. Securing plate to the reverse of the guard securing the sword to the top scabbard fitting. Blade with crowned anchor and foliage etching. Gieves trade mark to the forte. Blade shows surface staining and some pitting. Housed in its original leather scabbard with brass mounts. Blade 80cms. Sword housed in brown leather carry case, stamped C.H.ROCK R.N.
Edward VII Royal Irish Constabulary Officers Dress Sword, steel guard with crowned harp to the centre, leather covering to the grip, blade with partial central fuller, etched with foliage and Victorian crowned insignia of ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, other side of the blade has monogram of Kings Edward VII, forte with retailer Jones & Sons Dawson St Dublin. Blade measures 82 ½ cms in length. Blade is dulled and uncleaned, some surface staining etc. Housed in its original steel scabbard with both attachment rings still present. Untouched example.
Victorian 1822 Pattern Kent Artillery Volunteers Officers Dress Sword, with the original grip retaining the copper wire binding, steel guard with backstrap. Blade with partial central fuller, etched with crossed flags, foliage, Victorian crown and Artillery piece with rearing Kent Horse over the top indicating use by an officer in the Kent Artillery Volunteers. J Wood Plumsted retailers mark to the forte. Blade measures 82cms in length. Housed in its original steel scabbard. Exterior has been painted silver and gold, possibly used at one time in a theatre, blade remains in very good condition however.
Scarce Victorian Officer’s Sword of the 1st Sussex Artillery Volunteers, straight single edge blade by J. LEGG, Military Tailor, Brighton, etched with regimental title, cannon and foliage, regulation triple bar iron guard with wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its iron scabbard. Blade 27”, overall 32.5”. Good condition, blade retains much original polish, hilt with cleaned light to moderate pitting.
1897 Pattern Edward VII Infantry Officers Dress Sword, with large dish shape guard having King Edward VII cipher, steel pommel top and chequered back strap. Original grip retaining copper wire binding. Standard pattern blade etched with Royal cipher, Royal coat of arms and foliage. Staining and light wear to the blade, measures 81 ½cms in length. Housed in its brown leather covered field service scabbard.
1897 Pattern George V Infantry Officers Dress Sword, large dish shape guard with cipher of George V within, steel pommel and chequered back strap. Original grip retaining copper wire binding. Levee type blade etched with the initials “R.B.H” within a panel, George V cipher and foliage. Blade measures 81 ½cms in length. Some surface staining but otherwise good condition. Housed in its original leather covered field service scabbard, this shows heavy wear with sections of leather missing and damage.

Heavily polished blade, removing much of the original etched detail. Blade measures 83 ½cms in length. Housed in its original brown leather field service scabbard.
Post 1902 Army Service Corps Officers Dress Sword, swept hilt guard with etched chequered top pommel and back strap, original grip retaining copper wire binding, blade with partial fuller to the back edge. Blade etched with foliage and crowned ASC, reverse with monogram of King George V. Blade with some staining and wear, measures 86 ½cms in length. No scabbard.
