WW2 German SMF Solingen DLV flyers dagger with 16cm steel blade, nickel downswept cross-piece and pommel and leather covered grip, in leather and nickel scabbard with leather suspension strap L34cm overall. After WWI Germany was forbidden an air force by the Treaty of Versailles however the Deutscher Luftsport-Verband (German Air-sport Association) was formed in March 1933 from various sports flying clubs and had branches for aeroplane, gliding and balloon flying. Under cover of the sporting DLV, many future Luftwaffe pilots trained to fly. DLV was embodied with the NSKK in March 1935 and 1st March 1937 Luftwaffe formed.

Comes with chamois leather cover and brown leather carrying cover which has original owners initials "RBD" impressed. The sword was purchased and used post war in the Royal Navy by CJ Denny.

Some rust to the blade, ‘dings’ and losses, some corrosion.

dating: 1861 - 1865 provenance: USA, Round, rifled, 58 caliber (15 mm at the nozzle) with 40” barrel, provided with foresight, adjustable rear sight in three heights with foldaway sight leaf, octagonal breech with stamps 'M.L.H', 'V' and 'P' surmounting an eagle's head, date '1863'. American eagle marked on the bolster. Complete mark of the company and date '1863' on the lock. Working mechanic. Walnut full stock, with stamps on the left side and remains of number on the butt-side. Iron mounts. 'US' mark on the butt-plate. Three bands marked with 'U'. Iron ramrod. Some pitting and signs of use on the external, iron surfaces. Later strap, well manufactured. With socket bayonet marked 'US' and provided with leather scabbard. See Flayderman's Guide, 9th Edition, page 119, 5B-255. length 144,5 cm.

dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Swiss, Consisting of:1843 model dagger with tipped, single-edged blade featuring a Solingen mark, numbered, brass quillon with shields, ebony grips; complete with scabbard featuring brass mounts.Leather belt frog and loop to insert a 1851 federal carbine bayonet (not included); with its leather budrière featuring a shield-shaped stamp at the back. Big leather cartridge box, partially lined with green cloth at the inside and provided with bandoleer. length short sword 65,7 cm.

dating: first quarter of the 20th Century provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Straight, tipped, single-and short false-edged blade, nickel-plated, engraved with racemes, trophies and Savoy's badges on half of its length. Nickel-plated, iron hilt with a relieved badge depicting a crowned eagle of the Lancieri Regiment of Novara, over the cartouche 'Albis Ardua'. The guard featuring the dedication 'AL CONTE GINO AUGUSTI EROE DEL SOLSTIZIO LA SCIABOLA DELLA VITTORIA 19 GIUGNO 1919 G. d'Annunzio' on the upper part. Ebony hilt, long cap with remains of nickelling. Button with the motto 'MEMENTO AUDERE SEMPER', one of D'Annunzio's most famous ones. Complete with iron scabbard with one lug and clutches. The Count Gino Augusti commanded the charge during the well-known Battle of Solstizio on June, 19th 1918, defeating the Austro-Hungarian troops. The sabre was originally owned by D'Annunzio, who, at the end of 1918, enlisted the cavalry as a first lieutenant in the Lancieri Regiment of Novara. One year later, D'Annunzio donated the sabre to the Count, a good friend of his, to celebrate his heroic achievements. length 97 cm.

dating: 18th Century provenance: Iran, Beautiful, Safavid blade made of fine damask, with 'Kirk Narduban' elements.Featuring two cartouches at the forte with silver-inlaid koftgari writings: 'Amal-e Assad Allah (Work by Assad Allah)' and ' Bande-ye Sha Velayat Abbas (The servant of the King of Trusteeship (Ali), Abbas'. Tulwar hilt with silver inlays, wooden scabbard with green-velvet covering. For an identical cartouche see: Leio S. Figiel, M. D. , On Damascous steel, P.S. 13; P.S. 15. As for the study on Assad Allah's work and the writing 'Bande-ye Sha Velayat Abbas' see the exhaustive chapter of Manouchehr Moshtagh Khorasani's book 'Arms and Armor from Iran - The bronze Age to the end of the Qajar Period', 2006. length 85 cm.

dating: First half of the 19th Century provenance: Ottoman Empire, Interesting, richly undulated, single-edged blade made of damask, the back worked en suite. Both sides featuring cartouches with writings and gold floral decorations all over the length. Scarce hilt, completely made of iron wit cross-shaped quillon and angled pommel, remains of gold floral and geometrical decorations. Wooden scabbard with leather covering (defects), with iron mounts decorated en suite. Two suspension rings. length 93.5 cm.

dating: last quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Asia, Curved, single-and false-edged blade with wide fuller at the center, the last part ribbed at the center up to the tip, the first part finely engraved with Arabic inscriptions and coat of arms inside a wight-tip star among floral motifs. The tang featuring Arabic inscriptions and symbols. One-quillon, Russian-type hilt made of brass, decorated with floral motifs. Wooden hilt with leather covering and brass wire binding. Complete with scabbard, restored near the suspension ring. Probably Persian. length 97.5 cm.

dating: 1831 provenance: Caucasia, Solid, single-edged blade, with wide fuller, the back marked 'Anno 1831' with Cyrillic characters at the base. Hilt of typical shape, completely covered with silver foils, finely engraved and nielloed with floral motifs and geometrical patterns. Wooden scabbard covered with leather with four silver hilts decorated en suite. Complete with leather belt with nielloed silver hilts. Hilt and scabbard probably of a later time, around the 20th century. length 91 cm.

dating: circa 1900 provenance: Caucasia, Straight, double-edged blade; hilt completely covered with engraved and nielloed silver foil, a half-moon and two marks on the back side. Wooden, silver-foiled scabbard decorated en suite, with Cyrillic inscription 'Caucasus' and marks on the back side. Small damages. length 27.5 cm.

dating: Second half of the 19th Century provenance: Caucasia, Straight, double-edged blade with deep, asymmetrical grooves, front part with Arabesque decorations and deep, Arabic, star-mark; grip with dark-brown, horn grip scales (parts missing) with silver mounts, engraved and nielloed (part of one rosette is missing). Fabric wrist lace. Wooden, leather-covered scabbard with two, big, silver mounts, nielloed and engraved with floral motifs, cap surmounted with a clover, decorated en suite and with inscriptions in Arabic. length 73 cm.
