Wooden scabbard, decorated with embossed bands, checkered below and held by brass threads. length 59 cm.

Typical grip and scabbard completely covered with silver foil, embossed or engraved with floral motifs. A German Third Reich SS (Shutzstaffel) dagger, the 22cm double edged blade etched "Meine Ehre heisst Treue" (My honour is loyalty) correct no maker mark to the ricasso, having a nickel cross guard and hardwood grip inset with eagle and swastika with enamelled SS runes, housed in a nickel plated scabbard the central band with interlinked stylized swastikas, the hanging chains with alternating SS runes and deaths head emblem, 34.5cm.Footnote: Given to the current vendor by her uncle who states in a letter dated 27/10/2019 that this dagger was given to him by his father in-law Karl Hannish (9th September 1923 - 25th March 2000) a highly decorated Front Line soldier of the Waffen SS who enlisted in June 1941 and was assigned to the 2nd SS Panzer Division. A copy of this letter will be available to the successful buyer.

A First World War US Naval Officer's Sword, the 73cm single edge fullered steel blade etched with fouled anchor, scrolling foliage and original owner's name LIEUT.A.MALCOM, 1918, the brass hilt with dolphin cast knuckle bow, the guard pierced and cast with acorns and oak leaves enclosing USN, with ribbed cream painted fishskin grip and brass mounted leather scabbard, 90cm; a 1907 Remington bayonet, lacks scabbard; a German K98 Bayonet, lacks grip scales, spring and scabbard (3). Patching and nicks to the edge of the blade. The hilt and blade are a little jiggly. The grip has been later painted cream. The scabbard has two taped breaks to the leather.
A Victorian Court Sword, the 81.5cm steel blade etched with scrolling foliage and crossed standards, by Joseph Starkey, Conduit St., London, the gilt brass stirrup hilt with shell guard applied with crowned VR cypher, with wire bound grip and crown pommel, bullion thread cord and sword knot, gilt brass mounted leather scabbard. Grey patching to blade. The scabbard is split and the mounts are loose.
An Edwardian 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword, the 81cm single edge fullered steel blade bearing traces of etched decoration, the nickel plated steel hilt pierced and worked with Royal cypher, with wire bound fishskin grip, leather service scabbard and sword knot; four Various Fencing Foils, one with open work shell guard, two with aluminium cup guards, one with circular leather disc guard (5). 1 - Blade pitted. Interior of hilt with rust pitting. Scuffing to scabbard. All foils have pitting to blades.
A Fairbairn Sykes F.S.Fighting Knife, 2nd Pattern by Wilkinson Sword Ltd., London, the 15.5cm hand forged double edge steel blade with maker's mark etched within a panel to one side of the ricasso, the opposing side etched THE F.S.FIGHTING KNIFE, with blackened steel crossguard, blackened brass chequered grip and mounted leather scabbard, the elasticated strap replaced with a leather strap; a French M1866 Chassepot Yataghan Sword Bayonet, with St.Etienne T section steel blade, lacks scabbard (2). 1 - Fine brown pitting/dirt to the blade. The hilt has a small blemish above the crossguard with a further ding to the pommel and knut. The scabbard has a later leather strap to replace the original elasticated one. 2 - Nicks to edge of blade, with signs of resharpening.
A 19th Century Court Sword, with 78.5cm triangular section plain fullered steel blade, the cut steel hilt with shell guard, panelled grip, knuckle and urn pommel applied with cut steel beads, with steel mounted black patent leather scabbard, 99cm; an Early 20th Century Court Sword, possibly Egyptian, with foliate etched blade, gilt metal foliate cast hilt with mother of pearl grip and shell guard pierced and cast with a sun rising over pyramids, with brass mounted leather scabbard, 92cm (2). 1 - Blade with patches of thick brown grease. Some pitting to metalwork. Cracking and scuffing to scabbard. 2 - Rust pitting to blade at the ricasso. The brass chape to the scabbard is loose.
Three French Model 1866 Chassepot Yataghan Sword Bayonets, each with T section steel blade, the back edge engraved with manufacturer's name, with brass hilt and steel scabbard, one stamped with corresponding number to that on the steel crossguard (3). Grey patching and light pitting to the blades. All scabbards have rust pitting
Three Remington 1917 Pattern Bayonets, one with rare 1918 date mark, each with blade stamped with maker's mark, a flaming grenade over US and with eagle's head over numbers 11, 29 and 27, two with steel mounted leather scabbards, one lacking scabbard (3). Grey patching and pitting to all metalwork. The 1918 dated example is lacking its spring catch and has flaking to the original green paint on the scabbard mounts.
A Prussian M1871 Bayonet, the 46.5cm fullered steel blade bearing traces of teeth mark to the edge, the ricasso stamped with crown over ERFURT, the opposing side with maker's mark ALEX. COPPEL, SOLINGEN, with brass grip and brass mounted leather scabbard, lacks chape; a French M1876 Gras Bayonet, with T section St Etienne blade, lacks scabbard; two French M1886 Epee Bayonets, each with cruciform blade, nickel grip and steel scabbard (4) . 1 - Grey patching and rust pitting to blade which originally had a saw tooth edge. The crossguard is deeply pitted. The steel spring clip is rusted. The scabbard is creased and shabby and is missing the chape. 2 - Patching and pitting to blade and crossguard, lacks scabbard. 3 - Both bayonets have patching to blades and rust pitting to scabbards which have a slight bend towards the tips

A Czechoslovakian Model VZ23 Mauser ''Short'' Bayonet, the blued steel blade stamped CSZ/A at the ricasso, with blued steel scabbard; a Turkish Model 1890 Shortened Bayonet, the blade with Arabic script at the ricasso, the back edge stamped with crescent moon and star, with steel mounted leather scabbard; a Swedish Model 1896 Knife Bayonet, with steel scabbard and leather frog; a French Model 92 Sabre Bayonet, with composition grips and steel scabbard; a Mauser Bayonet, with steel scabbard and leather frog (5). Blade is good. Areas of orange rust spotting to metalwork on hilt and scabbard. 2 - Orange rust pitting to bayonet and scabbard. 3 - Minor pitting. 4 - Blade with minor black patches. Hilt and scabbard with deep pitting. 5 - Rust pitting to hilt and scabbard
Seven British Bayonets:- an 1888 pattern Mk I, Type 2 ''Lee-Metford'' bayonet by Wilkinson, London, with steel mounted leather scabbard; two 1907 pattern Mk1 ''SMLE'' bayonets, one with steel mounted leather scabbard; two No.4 Mk.II spike bayonets and scabbards; a No.9 knife bayonet and scabbard; an SA80 bayonet with wire cutter blade and plastic scabbard (7). All in reasonable condition. Minor pitting to the first three described.
Three Various Victorian Infantry Officer's Swords, comprising an 1827 Pattern example to the Rifle Brigade, the brass scabbard with twin ring suspensions; another, 1854 Pattern example, to the Scots Guards (lacking scabbard), and a further 1854 Pattern example (lacking scabbard) (3). All swords with very significant condition issues, the third-listed with damages and losses to hilt. Firsthand inspection recommended.
An Imperial German Dress Sword, with 83.5 cm single edge, single-fullered plated blade, etched with foliage and other ornamental devices, the cast, gilt brass hilt with shell guard, relief with an Imperial eagle, and integral scrolling knucklebow, the foliage-cast baluster pommel above a wire bound grip, the leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts, remains of dress knot, late 19th / early 20th century. Blade with scattered rust patches. Eagle to guard with small losses. Gilding dirty but ripe for restoration. Scabbard leather somewhat dry but complete. Dress knot very poor.
