A very scarce Hussar's type sabre from the property of Comte Leopold Andrassy dating: early 19th Century provenance: Hungary Wide, single -and false-edged blade with wide fuller featuring the inscription "ANDRASSY LEOPOLDNAK KARDJA" (sabre of Léopold Andrassy) between two flowers with "X"-shaped cross; smooth, rectangular tang; one-quillon gilt brass hilt, cross-quillon with langets, quillon-block, guard loop and cap all decorated with bas-relieved floral motifs; ebony grip with longitudinal grooves, on both sides is a porcelain medallion with polychrome painting, frame by a crown of gilt laurel. Wooden scabbard with black leather covering, with gilt brass mounts decorated en suite, on the front band are five porcelain medallions (some restorations and parts missing) painted in polychromy depicting a couple of lovers, the effigy of a woman with two children, a teacher with two children, a young man under a tree and young lady under a tree; the rear one with three medallions depicting landscapes; the ones on the chape are missing. All medallions are framed en suite with the ones on the grip. Missing drag. Two suspension rings. Beautiful sabre, unique, from the property of Léopold Andrassy (1767-1824), Count of Csikszentkiraly and Krasznohorka, Etat Colonel during 1792 insurrection. A fine enamelled kandshar dating: late 18th Century provenance: Indopersia Curved, double-edged, damask blade ribbed at the centre. Gilt copper hilt, entirely enamelled with fine, floral motifs on white ground, on the pommel a red cabochon stone. The scabbard en suite, with a small suspension loop featuring a signature in Arabic.
