A GVR Scottish Officer’s broadsword, 83.75cm flattened diamond section blade with two elongated fullers to either side, decorated with thistles, GVR cyphers, Royal Arms and maker’s name CLEMENT GRAY SHEFFIELD, bears the serial no. 6025 to the side of the forte, regulation plated hilt bearing the interchangeable regulation cross-bar guard, the shape of which relate to the Seaforth Highlanders, Cameron Highlanders or the Argyl and Sutherland Highlanders, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard. Christie 3rd Bn The Royal Irish Regiment, retaining its original polish and matt etched ground, regulation plated steel hilt incorporating crowned GVR cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its plated steel scabbard, complete with black leather knot.

A Victorian Scottish Officer’s broadsword to the King’s Own Scottish Borderers, 83.5cm flattened diamond section blade with single elongated fuller to either side, decorated with scrolling foliage, VR cypher, Royal Arms, crowned KING’S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERERS and maker’s name HAWKES & CO. LONDON, bears the serial no. 4100 to the side of the forte, regulation plated hilt bearing the interchangeable regulation cross-bar guard, the shape of which relate to the KOSB, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard. A French 1st Empire Style Eagle Pommel Broadsword, 90cm flattened diamond section blade with pronounced medial ridge and hatchet point, cast brass hilt, the broad crossguard with central rayed star and lion’s head quillons, fretwork grip decorated with the head of a moor and a lady, eagle head pommel, contained in its embossed brass scabbard decorated with scrolling foliage and three panels of stands of arms to the front.

Clean, bright blade.

A Regulation Pattern NCO’s Scottish Basket Hilted Broadsword, 82.5cm fullered blade stamped MOLE BIRM and bearing various ordnance stamps 00 and 25, regulation plated hilt composed of flattened bars united by heart pierced junction plates, wire bound fishskin grip, red faced chamois liner and silk tassel, together with another similar with 74.5cm blade stamped 11, 19 and 35, both with surface rust to blades and an 1895 Pattern Infantry Officer’s sword with scabbard.

21st Hussars 1822 pattern officer’s sabre by Henry Wilkinson (23282), the 87.5cm bright blade with single fuller, etched with a crowned VR cypher, foliate panels, the officer’s initial ‘HMB’ and unit title ‘21/H’. Regulation triple bar handguard and wire bound fishskin grip (some wear), complete with its steel scabbard, very good condition. HMB for Hugh M Beavan, 2nd Lieutenant 13 August 1879, Lieutenant 24 August 1881. Leaves the regiment in late 1882. Beavan was born in 1858 at Port Bleiddyn (Flintshire) in 1858. Noted as residing at Pitminster, Taunton in 1891.
