An Infantry officer's 1845 pattern sword, rifle regiment with Victorian cipher, in steel scabbard with bullion hanger. CONDITION REPORT Some corrosion to scabbard, otherwise in average condition. Scabbard not dented, however it is scratched with several patches of corrosion and some losses to the plating. Blade is fairly straight with minor ripples visible in reflection. Pommel tight, no jiggle, grip wires intact. A Royal Artillery officer's sword, Victorian blade marked with cipher. CONDITION REPORT In poor condition. Scabbard not dented, however largely pitted visible through paint. Blade fairly straight with minor ripples visible in reflection. Surface corrosion to blade near hilt and scratched throughout. Wire grip intact but separated, pommel tight, grip and hand guard corroded. Imperial German Mauser 98/05 Bayonet with Sawback Blade, fine untouched example having two piece wooden grips and steel mounts. Housed in its original steel scabbard with leather bayonet frog. Good swollen blade with cut fuller and sawback edge. Blade stamped with acceptance stamp and crown over W 17 for 1917. Forte stamped “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER AG OBLRNDORF a”. Blade remains in good overall condition. Blade length 36 ½ cms, overall 53 ½ cms.
Imperial German Pioneer Battalion Marked Mauser 98/05 Bayonet with Sawback Blade, good example having two piece wooden grips and steel mounts. Swollen blade with cut fuller and sawback edge. Blade stamped with acceptance stamps and crown over W 07 for 1907. Forte stamped with crown and remains of makers details. Reverse of the quillon is stamped with regimental markings for 23rd Pioneer Battalion, regiment number not clear. Missing scabbard. Blade 36 ½ cms, overall 50cms.
An Interesting Souvenired German WW2 K98 Bayonet, possibly a Kriegsmarine issue, wood grip engraved “Le Havre 1944”. Wood grips, blade retains much original blued factory finish and is marked ’42 cvl’. Blued scabbard marked ‘Elite Diament’, ‘39’ & ‘N 25377’ (‘N’ for Nordsee District?). Untouched example.
Waffen-SS Panzer Division Hitler Jugend (HJ) Etched Bayonet, being an original K98 bayonet with two piece bakelite grips. Pommel etched with SS divisional sign. The blade is polished and etched both sides with “12 SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend” and “Meine Ehre heist Treue”. Remains in good condition with a later copy leather bayonet frog attached to the scabbard. Engraving parts are post war additions in our opinion.
An early 20th century civil service court sword, the 31in. steel blade with etched George V crown cypher and foliage, by H. Poole & Co., Savile Row, London, the brass hilt with crown terminal and beaded borders, with original brass mounted leather scabbard and accompanying book (see below). (2) * Provenance: Formerly the property of William Stephen Holley (1920-2005), Private Secretary to H. E. The Governor of Borneo, Sir Ralph Hone in the early 1950s and later appointed Head of the Civil Service in 1964. Author of 'A White Headhunter in Borneo', pub. 2004. * Condition: The blade with light pitting, the brass mounted leather scabbard with tape repair and the lower brass mounted section has become detached.
