An 1887 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Officer's sword to the 5th Dragoon Guards by Wilkinson, 88.5cm blade by Wilkinson serial no. 39393 for 1902, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned Royal arms, crowned EVIIR cypher, regimental device and owner's initials J.S.G. regulation pierced steel hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. The initials are those of Lieutenant J.S Gage who served on the Dongola Expeditionary Force of 1896, British and Khedive's medals. South Africa War 1899-1900, operations in Natal in 1899, Lombards Kop, Defence of Ladysmith, Laingsnecht, Transvaal, Pretoria and Orange River. QSA with four clasps, KS with two clasps. Further served 1916-1918 as ADC to his brother General Moreton Gage.

An 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword to Lt Walter Lockwood Hartley of the Lincolnshire Regiment, 83cm blade etched with scrolling foliage and crowned GVR cypher's regulation pierced white metal hilt engraved with the inscription WALTER LOCKWOOD HARTLEY LIEUT 5TH LINCS REGT KILLED IN ACTION AT THE HOHENZOLLERN REDOUBT OCT 13TH 1915 R.I.P., wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard, complete with leather knot. The Mercury Newspaper from Hobart Tazmania states that Hartley was "Killed in action while gallantly leading his men on a charge on the German trenches", he was one of ten officers lost that day and only 160 men returned in total 3,643 were lost in the first few minutes of the attack on the redoubt.
