Rare P07 SMLE bayonet with hooked quillon by rare maker Mole. In its steel mounted leather MK1 scabbard with integral button chape. Clean straight blade 17". Ricasso with ER Cypher and dated '12.08' reinspected 1909 & 1911. Pommel stamped with regimental markings '2 Y & L.' (2nd Bn York & Lancaster R.). The Battalion served in France with the 6th Div. from 9.9.14 & fought on the Aisne in 1914, Hooge Ypres 1915 and on the Somme 1916. With service wear overall but in good clean condition with clear markings. Scabbard leather & stitching good stamped 'HGR' 09' with W/D arrow and inspection marks.

Sword: An 1854 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword. Brass Gothic hilt with 'VR' Cypher. Good blade 32" with Henri Wilkinson Pall Mall London to Ricasso. Number 10741 to top flat. Nicely etched blade. The serial number dates the sword to 1860. Wirebound fishskin grip, contained in its brass scabbard with 2 hanging rings (minor dents and small crease). This is a quality sword which is in good condition. It has a finish which reflects long service use and polishing. Largely a 'sleeper'. An attractive sword.

Chapin Inspector) Wirebound grip, bun pommel. Inspectors mark G.W.C. to knuckle bow. No scabbard. The whole in fine condition dated 1864 for the U.S. Civil War.

Reverse ricasso with makers mark: D. J. Millard Clayville. One of 10,001 swords made for the U.S. Government in 1862 by this firm. Brass Pommel (Top marked C.E.W.) with triple bar brass guard. Leather ribbed grip. Brass & metal work with a pleasing age patina. Early original 1862 Civil War sword. Scabbard unmarked with 2 heavy rings

U.S. bayonet for the MI Garand (US Model 1905 E1) Ricasso marked 'LO, U.S'. with Springfield Grenade and dated 1943. Excellent blade 24.5 cm. In its green plastic scabbard marked 'VP II'. Throat with flaming grenade marked 'U.S.' In collectors grade condition.

Very good and interesting P56 bayonet. Blade 22.75". Ricasso marked 'Chavasse'. These bayonets were supplied to America for use in the Civil War. The middle man was Caleb Huse who wanted them for the Naval Rifle. The ship carrying the load went down bankrupting Chavasse. However many were salvaged and used in the Civil War. This is a very good example with excellent blade, grips & working press stud. It is in its leather scabbard with steel locket and oval frog stud. However the chape is missing exposing 4.75" of the blade and half the stitching is a/f. The bayonet itself will clean up into an excellent example.

Lot 1112

Yataghan brass hilted bayonet similar to the Chasspot Model 1866 Sabre bayonet. The ricasso is marked with a small Maltese Cross device and the grip slot is not for the French Rifle. It is however near identical to the British P1856 sword bayonet. The pommel is stamped 'I.Y.' which could be for the Imperial Yeomanry. An interesting bayonet in good condition probable made in Germany for the UK. In its steel scabbard (a little tight at the top).

dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Russia, Curved, single-edged, enlarged blade, with a thin fuller through all the length next to the back. Iron grip, engraved with floral motifs in the initial part and ears. Traces of gilding on the ground. Wooden, fabric-covered scabbard (later), with iron chape and cap, engraved with flowers en suite and frames, with traces of gilding as well. An iron lug mounted on a relieved band. Quality, type of work and decorations make us think of Zlatoust manufacture. length 69,4 cm.

dating: 19th Century provenance: India, Single-and false-edged blade, in fine damask wootz, with slightly convex facets. Remains of a cartouche at the forte on the right side, gold-inlaid with traces of inscription and floral decorations. Hilt with quillon and grip in one piece, in iron, richly inlaid with golden spirals and rinceaux. A rosette in the center of quillon on both facets, composed of transparent stones (four missing). A similar rosette in the grip's center, with red and green stones (two missing), other similar decorations on the pommel's disk (four missing out of twelve). Wooden, leather-covered scabbard with white metal chape. length 84 cm.

Walrus ivory grip, in one piece. Provided with studs with ogival, gold-inlaid cusps and trapezoid, iron rosettes, inlaid en suite, back part with rivets.
