A composite 1796 type cavalry officer’s sword, the 32” engraved, blued and gilt blade and steel scabbard of Light Cavalry pattern, the steel hilt of Heavy Cavalry pattern but with “ears” extending from the backstrap over the replacement leather covered grip. QGC (blade worn but retaining some original blued and gilt finish, the hilt and scabbard pitted overall, one hanging ring detached but present). This appears to be a Heavy Cavalry hilt “married” to a Light Cavalry blade, the matching pitting of the two parts suggests that this was done some time ago. £100-200
