Housed in its polished scabbard with two hanging rings. The blade has been beautifully engraved, probably by a German blade manufacturer, “Captured at Dusseldorf by Capt P.F. COLLINS”, the reverse of the blade has a engraved panel with foliage and the Eickhorn trade mark. The blade remains in excellent overall condition. Blade measures 25 ¼ cms, overall 39 ½ cms. It was common practice after the war for the German dagger manufacturers to sell spare daggers and accessories to allied troops to take home as souvenirs, we can only think that due to the style of engraving this was a specially requested piece by either a British or American officer for the dagger he has captured.
