A 1796 pattern Light Cavalry sabre, with partial wire bound grip, blade length 81.5 cm, full length 93.5 cm, complete with scabbard (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The blade length when measured from the tip to the centre of the blade where it joins the hilt is 81.5 cm. The same measurement on the scabbard is 85 cm. The blade is not bent out of shape and there are no significant nicks or any damage. There is some slight discolouration to the blade but nothing particularly problematic. The blade is between 34 and 36 mm in depth. There is no jiggle at the pommel. The scabbard is not in particularly good condition and it is old at the base. It is generally all over pitted and rusty.
A Victorian 1822 pattern sword by Linney of London, the guard with VR cipher and the blade marked Linney London, with wire bound shagreen grip and marked to the guard J L Lee, 2/5th Lancashire Fusiliers, blade length 82 cm and with leather bound scabbard (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: As you will see from our images the scabbard is not in particularly good condition. It is rusty beneath the leather covering and much of the leather covering is missing. The sword itself is in better order. The blade has some minor tarnishing and two small nicks to the sharp edge. The hand guard is tarnished with verdigris. The shagreen has some small losses but is largely intact and all wire is present.
A modern custom made Bowie knife, mirror finish clipped back blade 6", the ricasso stamped "Bexfield, Sheffield", the blade etched "Original design by Colonel James Bowie", the hilt with pale brass crossguard and staghorn grips. VGC (no sheath); also an export Mauser bayonet (?), blade 11¾", in its brass mounted leather scabbard. Basically GC (needs cleaning, some wear). (2) £50-60

Rubbing and wear to velvet covering of scabbard. Tarnish, rubbing and loss to the gilding of the mounts.
