WW2 British 1897 Pattern Officers Sword. 815mm long single edged fullered blade with etched decoration. Proof marked. Numbered to spine of blade "100256". Retailer marked "Hobson & sons, 1, 3 &5 Lexington Street, Golden Square, London W". VR to blade and also VR marked to Guard. Shagreen wire bound grip. Overall length 975mm. Complete with leather knot, leather covered scabbard and leather cover, marked "RAMC" and "RVF. This sword was carried by Col. Robert Vincent Franklin, OBE, RAMC. The family believe it was later carried in WW2 by his son, William Franklin RAMC. He saw service in the Far East. New to the market.

Working release catch. Pommel is Waffen Ampt marked. Bakelite grips. Overall length 380mm. No matching scabbard which is maker marked and dated "Paul Weyersberg & Co, Solingen 1937". Serial numbered "9840h". Ball Chape is HaWaA marked. Ex Russian captured example with strong blued finish to both bayonet and scabbard.

Condition Report : Blade etching over-polished and slightly faint; fish skin worn.
