GC (hilt plating very slightly bubbled, a few chips to scabbard paint). Plate 28 £550-600.

A late Vic R Naval officer’s sword, very slightly curved, fullered blade, 31½”, by Wilkinson, no 33588 (for 1896) on backstrap, etched on one side with flat topped crowned fouled anchor, and on the other with the R Arms with supporters and motto, all in roped oak wreath panels, regulation brass semi basket guard with crowned fouled anchor, prominent lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its brass mounted brown leather (replaced) scabbard, with unusual belt loops, Wilkinson logo on the locket, and spring catch into hilt. Basically GC (few rust patches to blade, hilt a little mis-shapen) £150-250

A Victorian 1845 pattern Infantry officer’s sword, blade 32½” by Henry Wilkinson, number 23503, etched with the usual crowned “VR” and panels of foliage, also a crest of a griffin’s head with anchor over “L.G. from I.S.H.” and in scrolls “39 Regiment, Primus in Indis”, with regulation brass hilt, in its very worn leather FS scabbard with a leather bayonet frog. QGC (worn overall). Included is a letter from the Royal Armouries with photocopy of the entry for sword No 23503 in the Wilkinson ledger showing that it was completed in February 1880, with no mention of any special engraving, the purchaser’s name indecipherable. £60-100

A WWI French M 1845 Adjutant of Infantry sword, curved, fullered blade marked on backstrap “Manufacture nationale d’armes de Chatellerault, Mars 1916 Adjt d’Infrie Mle 1845 E”, narrow back fuller, heavy quality brass hilt the guard with scroll quillon, turn down inner edge, floral and foliate pieced panel to outer edge, into quatrefoil section knucklebow, forward sloping cup shaped pommel, with foliate engraved panel, wirebound leather grip, in its steel scabbard with single ring and numbered 61751 en suite with hilt. GC a good clean example. Plate 28 £250-300
A 19th Century Burmese sword dha, curved, shallow fullered blade 26", slight swollen towards point, silver damascened for its full length on both sides, with a pommel depicting seated warriors and sages, a dog chow, foliage and inscriptions, zig zag panel along the top edge, sheet silver covered hilt, the central panels depicting figures of male and female deities, plain darkwood ball pommel, it its plain sheet silver panelled scabbard in eleven sections. GC, a good example. Plate 32 £200-300
A 20th century Dyak sword mandau, swollen SE blade 18½”, flat on one side and tapered on the other with a line of dots and stars, back edge pierced with 3 sets of 4 holes and 2 elephant heads towards point, rattan bound ivory grip, the pommel carved in the form of a stylized antelope with 2 hair tufts, in its rattan bound stylized wooden scabbard with belt loops. GC £40-60
A late 19th century courtsword, hollow triangular section polished blade 32½”, cut steel hilt with shallow, pointed oval guard, pierced with a pattern of triangles, shallow pas d’ane rings, crossguard, swollen grip, slender urn shaped pommel, hilt facetted and studded overall, ornamental chain link guard, in its polished black leather scabbard with mounts (centre section replaced).
