A GOOD GERMAN HUNTING HANGER, hilt with fluted flat pommel, counter-curved guard with stag foot quillon, horn grip, down-turned guard with crowned gold monogram H.D.(?), polished back-edged blade with single fuller etched with hunting trophies, stags head and hounds, steel mounted leather scabbard, 24.5ins, 19th Century, minor discolouration to hilt and scabbard mounts, scabbard lacking its companion small knife.
A HIGHLY IMPORTANT 1805 PATTERN NAVAL OFFICER SWORD OF NELSON INTEREST, gilt brass stirrup hilt with lions head pommel, guard with down-turned quillon, languets with fouled anchor, the back strap inscribed, used by LORD NELSON, and presented by him to Lieutenant EDWARD GASCOIGNE PALMER, ivory grip in eight sections divided with copper wire binding, back-edged blade with single fuller with traces of gilt decoration, one side engraved with trophies of arms, scrolls and post 1801 Royal Coat of Arms, the other with crowned fouled anchor, brass mounted leather scabbard, plain chape, the locket inscribed Used by LORD NELSON and presented by him to Lieutenant EDWARD GASCOIGNE PALMER, 37.5ins, Circa. 1803, gilt worn, top of grip chipped and with replaced bone, locket sword sling ring missing; together with its original officers narrow patent leather sword belt with five gilt lions head mounts including sword sling mounts and two-part buckle with scrolled dolphin hook, one guard sling, cracked and with a tear, The Coat of Arms on the blade was used 1801-1816. Note: Edward Gascoigne Palmer entered the Navy, 20 June, 1803, under the auspices of H.R.H. the Duke of Kent on board the Donegal 74. In 1805 he accompanied Lord Nelson to the West Indies. Lieut. Palmer married, 3 Aug. 1831, Harriet, relict of the late Higgles Bayley, Esq., of Cape Coast Castle, by whom he has one child.

One does have a rather large dent, but the other appears to be straight and undented. Neither scabbard have press studs. Unknown if scabbards and blades are original matches, the scabbards do not appear to have any serial numbers.

An 1821 Pattern type light cavalry trooper's sword, with a scabbard Condition report Report by GHScabbard generally pitted with a couple of large dents around half way down. Blade is not sharpened, and has very little pitting, and appears generally very clean.The grip has some small losses particularly around the edges and towards the bottom, but is generally intact and firm.The grip is also very firm with no rattle. Overall good.
