A British Pattern 1887 Mk.I Sword Bayonet, the 46.5cm steel blade with various markings including crowned VR, /86, C'91, WD arrow, crown/9/E, crown/E/57, bend mark and crossed through LM, with replaced stepped muzzle ring, with steel mounted leather scabbard; a Brown Bess Socket Bayonet; the 42cm triangular section steel blade fullered on the back, with very faint markings, the arm stamped 40, 53cm, lacks scabbard (2). 1 - Blade is clean. Grey and orange rust pitting to the hilt and scabbard mounts. 2 - Grey patching, pitting and flaws to the blade, with a bent tip.

A British 1855 Lancaster Sword Bayonet, the 60.5cm quill back steel blade stamped at the ricasso with a helmeted bust, the opposing side with War Department arrow and crown/20, the brass hilt with chequered black leather grip scales, with brass mounted black leather scabbard. Some black patching to blade. Wear to chequering of grip around the spring. Some flaking to the surface of the leather scabbard with a crease towards the locket.

A George VI 1827 Pattern Naval Officer's Sword, the 80cm single edge fullered steel blade etched with Royal Coat of Arms, crowned fouled anchor and foliage, with Proved poincon, the gilt brass gothic hilt cast with crowned fouled anchor, hinged guard, wire bound fishskin grip and lion head pommel with long mane running down the backstrap, with brass mounted leather scabbard,97.5cm . Small areas of black patching towards each end of the blade. The wire binding is a little loose around the grip. The leather of the scabbard is quite scuffed.

An Early 19th Century Mameluke Sword, the 78cm single edge curved steel blade double edged for the last 27cm, the steel hilt with baluster quillons and cruciform langets to the diamond section crossguard, the ivory grip scales with gilt brass foliate rosette rivet and pierced eyelet at the pommel, 92cm, lacks scabbard . Grey patching and pitting to the plain blade. One of the langets is missing its upright. The crossguard is jiggly and has pitting. The ivory grips have age cracks and is missing a rivet.

A German Third Reich Luftwaffe Officer's Dagger, first pattern, the 30.5cm chamfered double edge steel blade etched with maker's logo of seated king over SMF, Solingen, the opposing side crudely inscribed M/Fl.154.109, the nickel plated hilt with downswept winged crossguard with gilt 'Sunwheel' swastika, wire bound blue leather grip and 'Sunwheel' pommel, the blue leather scabbard with nickel plated mounts, hanging chains and clip, the suspender lugs each stamped 584, 47.5cm. Blade is good, although the inscription may be later. Some scuffing to the leather grip and scabbard. Tarnishing to the hilt and scabbard mounts.

A German Third Reich Luftwaffe Officer's Sword, the 71.5cm double edge fullered steel blade etched with maker's mark for Paul Weyersberg, Solingen, the silver plated hilt with down-swept winged crossguard centred by a gilt `Sunwheel' swastika, wire bound blue leather grip and `Sunwheel' swastika disc pommel, with silver plated mounts to the blue leather scabbard and hanger, 93cm. Blade in good condition. Scuffing and some areas of loss to the leather grip and scabbard. Hilt and scabbard mounts are tarnished.

Fine brown pitting to hilt. Lacks scabbard. 2 - Black patching and pitting to blade, with nicks to the edge. The scabbard had orange and grey rust pitting.

Action works. Grey patching and light pitting to metalwork.Bruising to stock with a sliver of wood missing along the barrel to the left fore-end, the opposing side with fine crack. Clearing rod rust pitted. Bayonet with rust pitting to spring stud, crossguard and scabbard, blade with grey patching.

Same action at Bandsman Rendle of the 1st Bn DCLI at Wulverghens, 1914 in connection with the award of the V.C to Bandsman Rendle. Retired 1936. Thence by descent: Major Reginald Eric Lennard Wingate, C.B.E., TD, Devonshire Regiment 1939-1946. Eric Wingate (1921-1989), born Chittagong to Major Reginald Ramsay Wingate, DCLI. TA, Officer Cadet Corp, St Edward's School, Oxford. Commissioned into the 4th Bt. Devon Regt 1939. Intelligence Officer. Sniper Instructor. Tops marks in class. Saw action in France, Holland, Germany; Awarded the M.I.D. in NE Europe. After VE Day volunteered for posting in the Far East. Promoted to major and Sent to Ceylon, Singapore and finally Dep Asst. QMG (Movements) in N.E Indies (Indonesia) fighting the Japanese. Awarded the Military M.B.E for Gallantry. Demobbed in 1946. Joined Mansfield's & Co, part of the Ocean Transport Company of Liverpool. Stationed in Singapore and Penang. Made a director of the Mansfield's and Straits Steamship Group of Companies (now the Keppel Corp. of Singapore), then Chairman in 1964. On the board of numerous companies. Chairman of the Singapore Intl Chamber of Commerce. Retired to Dartmouth, Devon in 1974. Consultant to the Swire Group. National Committee member of the Mission to Seaman. Awarded the C.B.E for services to the British Community in Singapore. Dart Harbour Board Committee, town and District Councillor South Hams. Mayor elect for Dartmouth but did not take office due to death. Made an Honorary Citizen of Dartmouth.

Brown wooden grip with inlaid replacement silvered eagle and swastika and replaced enamelled SA circular device. Housed in black repainted scabbard with plated mounts (plating worn). Complete with chains bearing mobile swastikas, NSKK device and central triangle links, one link marked RZM M5/58 (Hugo Engelmann & Co., Heiligerstadt-Eichsfeld) on reverse, another “MUSTERSCHUTZ NSKK-KORPSFUHRING”. Oakleaf ornamented spring clip. Grip wood repaired, ball chape dented.

Housed in black painted metal scabbard, with leather belt loop and securing strap. GC clean condition.
