A rare Third Reich TeNo (Technische Nothilfe) Leader’s dagger, the blade etched with the TeNo eagle and original Eickhorn logo, and numbered 0970, the hilt with oxidised silver finish, orange grip and silver bullion portepee, in its scabbard, the iron throat also numbered 0970 (slightly indistinct owing to pitting of the throat), with its original dress pattern hanging straps, with distinctive cogwheel buckles. Good Condition. Bowman describes this as “probably one of the rarest of the Third Reich production daggers”, as the numbers produced were relatively small. Plate 20
A Vic 1845 pattern officer’s sword of The 85th (The King’s L. Infantry) Regt, slightly curved, fullered blade 32½”, faintly etched with crowned VR cypher on both sides with strung bugle and “85” on one side and “85 Regt” on the other, in scrolled panels, with maker’s name “Tatham 37 Charing Cross” and “Warranted Proved” in scrolls at forte, regulation brass hilt with turn down inner portion, stepped pommel, ornamental backstrap, wirebound grip, in steel scabbard with 2 rings. Basically GC (blade worn and cleaned, much of the etching unclear).
An Italian infantry officers sword, slender, straight fullered blade 32”, with double fullers at hatchet point, plated steel hilt with reinforced edge to guard with thumb stop, 2 sidebars, plain pommel with prominent stud, in its plated scabbard with 2 rings. Basically GC (some rust and bubbling to plating overall).
A good WWII 2nd pattern FS military knife, blade 7”, with logo of “Wilkinson Sword Co Ltd London” on one side at forte and “The FS Fighting Knife” on the other, steel crossguard, finely chequered grip, in its black leather scabbard with darkened chape (elastic strap broken). Near VGC Plate 7
A Spanish General officer’s sword, slender straight plated blade 30”, with gilt on black foliate panels for half its length on both sides, with crowned crossed sword and baton in panel on one side, and “Fabrica de Toledo, Spain” at forte, elaborate mameluke style hilt, the crossguard with Spanish R Arms on one side and crossed sword and baton on the other, ornamental all round backstrap to white composition grip, in its plated scabbard with ornamental mount and single ring. VGC not old.
A German hunting hanger, c 1900, single edged fullered blade 16”, etched on both sides with stag, deer, wild boar etc, in foliate, scrolled panels, brass hilt, with small turn down shell guard on the other side, S shaped crossguard (bent) with hoof terminals, staghorn grip with 3 ovoid studs, cup shaped pommel, in its leather scabbard with brass chape and locket with frog stud. A Nicaraguan diplomat’s sword, slender hollow triangular section blade 30½”, with maker’s name (unclear) at forte, etched with foliate panels for one third length, brass hilt, the pierced turn down shell guard incorporating arms within circle “Republica Nicaragua” on trophy of flags, with foliage, foliate crossguard, ornamental domed pommel, swollen MOP panelled grip, in its brass mounted steel scabbard with single ring. An early 19th century Highland broadsword, double edged blade 33½”, triple fullered for two thirds length, steel basket hilt of traditional form, the 3 slender panels pierced with hearts in a shallow diamond pattern, the 2 larger panels with hearts in a circular pattern, fluted pommel with large stud, wirebound fishskin covered grip, in a leather covered scabbard with iron locket and chape. Good Condition, the hilt with a dark patina. Plate 22

A Japanese tachi decorated with horimono of a dragon pursuing the pearl of wisdom, the tang inscribed 'Awatagochi Ikkanshi Tadatsuna', in shira saya with sayagaki in black ink, 'Awatagochi Ikkanshi Tadatsuna'. Boshi to habaki 26.25in. (66.7cm) Received as a gift by Colonel Sean O'Driscoll, US Army, aide to General Douglas MacArthur in Japan in 1945.Gifted to the current owner by O'Driscoll's widow in 1992. Awatagochi Ikkanshi Tadatsuna, real name Asai Mantay go Ikkanshi and Goshoken, received the honorary title Omi no Kami during the Enpo era (1673-1681). A renowned swordsmith he was an excellent horimono engraver.

A British 1845 pattern Naval boarding cutlass, the straight 30 inch, unmarked double edged, spear-pointed blade on painted steel, three-quarter basket hilt, with reeded metal grip, in leather scabbard with brass fittings. Sword length 35.50in. (90.2cm) The Mark II 1845 pattern boarding cutlass was a conversion from the earlier curved blade to a straight blade. Conversions were carried out in the Royal Small Arms Factory, Enfield between 1867 and 1885.
