A GERMAN 3RD REICH SS DAGGER, the Dagger is complete with scabbard and belt hanger which is marked 'A' Assmann? DRGM RZM M5/8 the crossguard has some bluing, the wooden handgrip is roughly engraved with the initials FW, the blade is etched with the usual 'Meine Ehre Heisst Treue' My honour is loyalty, the blade is also marked RZM M7/14 1936 indicating the maker being P.D. A WORLD WAR TWO IMPERIAL JAPANESE OFFICERS SHIN GUNTO SWORD, with leather scabbard, with belt hanger and buckle fixings, the blade is not marked and has the brass ricasso, at the hilt, the tsubo is nicely decorated and the grip although showing wear has kept the decorative menuki in place, however one of the dowel plugs has been replaced with a small bolt fixing, the wooden leather scabbard is in good condition for its age, The Vendor states that this weapon was presented to his father, a Captain Allan WADEY 81st Battery, 5th Field Btn, Royal Artillery who served in Burma from 1941-1945, as an act of Surrender by a Japanese Office in the Burma Theatre at the end of WW2, presented with the lot is a black and white photo of Captain WADEY
Effects of Lieutenant Geoffrey W. Webber, 10th Gurkha Rifles - an original WWII Second World War period early to mid 20th Century large Nepalese Gurkha Kukri knife. 24" long total length. Carved shaped horn handle, leading to a typical elongated curved single edged blade. Housed within its original leather covered wooden scabbard, complete with Chakmak & Karda smaller daggers. As owned and used by Webber during his service. Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey W. Webber was born in Middlesex in 1924. In 1942 he joined the Middlesex Regiment, and by 1944 was attached to the 4th Battalion, 10th Gurkha Rifles - seeing action in both Burma and Indo-China. After WWI Second World War, he was posted to India, and served in the 4th Battalion Bihar. In March of 1947 he was one of 150 ex-4th Battalion Gurkhas drafted to Rangoon to join the 1st Battalion where he came across the Amritsar Riots. In 1948 he joined the 11th Battalion Parachute Regiment (later becoming the 8th Middlesex Regiment, and then 5th Middlesex Regiment. By 1962 Webber was in command of 5th Battalion and his TA service ends. After his service, he moved to Sheat Manor on the Isle Of Wight and in 1998 he was awarded the MBE for Services To The Community. His memoirs were written and published in 2014. His book (which is featured in lot 351 of this sale) details his many experiences, as well as many of the items offered for sale, as well as his personal photographs.
