An imperfection mark in the metal of the blade. Tsuba with age wear tarnishing and pitting throughout. Grip with general rubbing. The scabbard with general scuffs and a few small chips, the scabbard cracked / broken where the blade of the small knife sits in. Handle lacking pegs and with wear around the peg holes and a crack to lacquer here also.

The Japanese officer, from whom it was taken, was believed to have been of Lieutenant rank with the name Kawahara.
