A late 19th century heavy cavalry officer’s service sword, plain, plated, very slightly curved fullered blade 35”, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London (no number on backstrap), DE towards point, pierced steel honeysuckle pattern guard, chequered pommel and backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its brown leather covered FS scabbard (worn and split). Sword basically GC, the blade retaining most original plating (small rust patch along one edge, light rust to hilt).
An Austrian M1862 Pioneer falchion, broad, heavy blade 18”, with shallow fuller on the outer side and hatchet point, shaped iron crossguard with bud terminals, stamped ‘1400’ on the outer side, long service pistol shaped hilt the darkwood grips secured by 4 flat studs, in its thick leather covered scabbard with steel locket, chape and frog loop. GC Plate 5
A mid 19th cent French infantry officer’s sword, slightly curved, fullered blade 30”, with narrow back fuller, traces of gilt to brass hilt, ornamental quillon to guard with pierced floral panel on the outer edge into knucklebow with scroll at the top into forward sloping pommel with foliate border, slightly swollen polished horn grip, in black leather scabbard with brass locket and frog stud, and chape. An unusual sidearm, in the style of a P1856 sword bayonet, recurved, fullered blade 20½”, marked ‘L.G, Kratz, Solingen’ at forte (no other visible markings), steel crossguard with stud quillons, plain pommel, chequered composition grips secured by 5 studs, in its leather scabbard with steel locket and frog stud, and chape. GC, the blade retaining some original finish (light pitting to hilt and scabbard mounts. Plate 5
A General officer’s mameluke hilted sword, curved plated blade 32½”, DE at point, etched with foliate floral panels on both sides incorporating a blank central section, brass mounted hilt retaining some original gilt, panelled crossguard and langets with crossed baton and sword in wreath to centre, foliate backstrap and studs to white composition grips (right grip chipped) with dress knot, in its post 1898 plated scabbard. GC, the blade retaining virtually all original polish (small worn patches to scabbard plating)
A diplomat’s sword, straight blade 31”, by Keates & Co Edinburgh, etched with trophies in stylized foliate panels, studded brass hilt with shellguard, crossguard, knucklebow, flattened urn pommel and panelled, square section grip, in its black PL scabbard with, brass locket and chape. GC, the blade good.

A Geo V officer’s sword of The R Artillery, straight fullered blade 35”, DE towards point, marked ‘British Make’ with no 3299 on backstrap, etched within scrolled panels, on one side with crown, GVR cypher and cannon, and on the other ‘Royal’/ winged lightning/ ‘Artillery’, plated hilt with knucklebow, sideloop and 2 sidebars, plain pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its leather FS scabbard with frog. Basically GC (minor wear and rust).
A mid 19th century Thames River Police sidearm, slightly curved, fullered blade 27”, with Enfield inspector’s stamps at forte and DE at point, brass hilt with knucklebow and quillon, sidebar, solid ribbed grip, rounded pommel and plain backstrap, press stud and catch which secures sidearm into leather scabbard with brass locket and chape. GC (dark rust stains to blade, scabbard leather worn)
A Geo V RN Midshipman’s dirk, straight blade 17½”, etched on one side with crowned R Arms, GVR cypher and oak spray and on the other with crowned fouled anchor and oak spray, all within roped oakleaf panels, brass hilt with traces of gilt, crowned fouled anchor to centre of shallow S shaped crossguard on one side, acorn finials, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its leather scabbard with chape, and locket with 2 rings, spring clip to crossguard and owner’s initials ‘A.K. McC.H’, GC, the blade retaining virtually all original polish (one or two small edge nicks).

A French M1822 light cavalry sword, curved, fullered blade 36”, with narrow back fuller to centre section, marked ‘Manufre Nle de Chatellerault...’ (date unclear) on backstrap, with 2 small stamps at forte, regulation brass hilt, with reinforced edges to guard, knucklebow and 2 sidebars, slightly forward sloping cap shaped pommel, stamps ‘15’, crown/B and crown/A to knucklebow, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings (painted gold overall). GC, the sword a clean example. Plate 5
A Vic 1845 pattern infantry field officers levee sword, slender, very slightly curved, fullered blade 32½”, etched on both sides with crown, VR cypher and foliage within fenestrated panels, regulation brass triple bar hilt incorporating crowned VR cypher, with turn down inner portion, stepped pommel, chequered thumbpiece, wirebound fishskin grip, in its brass scabbard with 2 rings. Basically GC (guard a little mis-shapen, outer bar split). GC (blade some wear, minor scabbard dents).

An 1821 pattern light cavalry trooper’s sword, slightly curved, fullered blade 31”, regulation steel hilt with crossguard and roll quillon, knucklebow, sideloop and 2 sidebars, plain cap pommel and backstrap, top of quillon marked ‘X/RH/11/37’, wooden grip (leather missing), in its steel scabbard (dented) with 2 rings. Basically GC (some age wear and light pitting overall).
An Ed VII diplomat’s sword, slender blade, 31½”, by ‘J.R.Gaunt & Son. late Edward Thurkle, 53 Conduit St London W’, etched with Ed VII cypher and crossed lances in scrolled panels, brass hilt, the crossguard with turn down shell bearing cypher in wreath, knucklebow into crown pommel, wirebound grip, sword knot (worn), in its PL (worn) scabbard with locket and chape. GC, the blade good, traces of gilt to hilt and scabbard mounts.
A Vic Royal Naval officer’s sword, plated blade 31½”, by Wilkinson no 13921 (for 1865), etched into crowned Royal Arms and crowned fouled anchor in panels, gilt hilt with crowned fouled anchor, turn down inner portion which locks to scabbard, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound white grip, in its gilt mounted leather scabbard. GC (polished and refurbished overall)
An 1892 pattern infantry field officer’s levee sword, slender, straight blade 32½”, by G Phillips & Son, Outfitter. Stonehouse, Plymouth, etched in stylized floral and foliate panels, on one side with flat topped crowned VR cypher and wreath and on the other crowned Royal Arms and wreath, regulation brass hilt with sideloop and incorporating crowned VR cypher, stepped pommel, wirebound fishskin grip, in its polished brass scabbard with 2 rings. GC , the blade retaining all original polish. Plate 8

GC, the blade retaining much original finish. Plate 8
A late 18th century infantry officer’s spadroon of the 23rd Regiment, straight, fullered blade 32’, with faint traces of etching and retaining a little original blueing for one third length, gilt hilt with cross guard, quillon and sideloop, into slightly swollen knucklebow with small ring at the top, flattened octagonal section pommel cap and lined, slightly swollen ivory grip with gilt central band and oval engraved with the Prince of Wales’s Feathers and XXIII, in its leather (worn) scabbard with brass mounts and 2 rings, the locket engraved ‘R Clarke & Son, 62 Cheapside’. Good Condition, the hilt retaining approximately 85% original gilt. Plate 19
