A RARE BRITISH 1796 PATTERN HEAVY CAVALRY TROOPERS SWORD by Jos.h Hereddell & Co., with 35in. single-edged fullered blade struck with an inspection mark on one side, regulation steel hilt comprising pierced disc-shaped guard with langets, the knuckle-guard cut for a sword knot and engraved 'RD B 10', and pommel, leather-covered wooden grip, in correct regulation steel scabbard engraved 'E 5' with two rings for suspension. A British Cavalry officer's sword, 1908 pattern, the straight 35 inch steel blade by 'Ranken & Co Ltd, India', the other side with approved stamp, each side with GR cypher amongst foliate engraved decoration, the engraved plated steel hilt with fish-skin covered grip and plated steel pommel, with leather-covered scabbard and frog; and a 1796 Light Cavalry sabre, the 31.75 inch curved blade stamped 'Osborn & Gunby', with steel stirrup hilt, wire-bound leather grip and steel scabbard, re-gripped and extensively polished, (2).
