A good 18th century Indian sword khandar with gold overlaid hilt, flat blade 39”, with traces of inscription on one side near forte, long panelled langets into crosspiece overlaid with stylized back to back monsters, their heads forming the terminals, supporting V section double shell guard, broad knucklebow, circular dish pommel with domed top, long curved spike and lotus finial, the entire hilt gold overlaid with lined and scrolled borders amid foliate panels, plain iron grip, padded crimson velvet lining to guard, in its red fabric covered scabbard. Very Good Condition for Age. Plate 10
