A Hitler Youth early pattern sheath knife by Schaffe Solingen, “blut und ehre” on blade and another similar without motto but stamped “RZM M7/13”, both in their black painted sheaths, all mounted on a wooden shield with painted HJ badge. A Georgian naval dirk, slender, sharply curved, shallow diamond section blade 7½”, tapering square section crossguard with bud finials and rectangular block centre embossed with an anchor on one side and a flower head on the other, round tapering grip in 9 segments, pommel with beaded rim and top button, in its brass scabbard engraved on the front with stylized floral panels, 2 rings with suspension chain. Good Condition, retaining faint traces of gilt (some wear overall). Plate 9
A 19th century East Indies sword, curved, shallow fullered adapted European blade 25”, stylized foliate, semi pistol darkwood hilt, the top with a pierced whorl, chased silver panels above and below short cordbound grip, in its darkwood scabbard, the long locket and chape, and eleven centre bands, chased en suite with hilt, in stylized floral and foliate panels. A heavy quality Burmese sword dha, slightly curved, single edged blade 22½”, with ground central fuller, and narrow back fuller for half length, solid ivory hilt, the lower part covered in sheet silver, en suite with scabbard, divided into panels with bands of filigree work, the upper part bound with red (faded) silk covered cord, the cord extending into an arm loop with tassels. Good Condition Plate 10
A good 18th century Indian sword khandar with gold overlaid hilt, flat blade 39”, with traces of inscription on one side near forte, long panelled langets into crosspiece overlaid with stylized back to back monsters, their heads forming the terminals, supporting V section double shell guard, broad knucklebow, circular dish pommel with domed top, long curved spike and lotus finial, the entire hilt gold overlaid with lined and scrolled borders amid foliate panels, plain iron grip, padded crimson velvet lining to guard, in its red fabric covered scabbard. Very Good Condition for Age. Plate 10
A Victorian officer’s broadsword of The Seaforth Highlanders, claymore blade 32½”, by Wilkinson, no 29435 (for 1889) etched with crowned VR cypher on one side and crown with “Seaforth Highlanders Rossshire Buffs” on the other, in thistle panels, with owner’s crest of a helm on torse with motto “Cassis Tutissima Virtus”, regulation pierced and panelled hilt, wirebound fishskin grip, red white and blue lining (some wear) and crimson tassels, in its steel scabbard with stud finial and 2 rings. Good Condition (brightly polished overall). Plate 12
An early Victorian presentation 1822 pattern infantry field officer’s sword, slender, curved pipe backed blade 30”, etched with crowned VR cypher and wreath in plain panels, on both sides, regulation brass hilt incorporating crowned VR cypher, stepped pommel, ornamental backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its brass scabbard with 2 rings, and inscribed “Presented to C B B Maitland from his Friend and Brother Officer H H M Percy, The First or Grenadier Regiment of Foot Guards, April 1841”, with a later gilt dress knot. A George V cavalry officer’s sword, straight, single edged, fullered blade 35½”, marked “J B Johnstone London & (unclear)” at forte, numbered 106969 on backstrap and etched with crowned GVR cypher, crowned R Arms without supporters, and wreath, in scrolled panels, plated, pierced scroll pattern guard, diced pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its plated scabbard with 2 rings. Very Good Condition, the blade retaining virtually all original finish (minor speckles to plating of hilt and scabbard). Plate 12
