Of a bowie type the 11. 3/4"" blade was possibly purchased and carried by the officer himself. Antler hilt with steel pommel and guard, steel mounted leather covered scabbard with spring clip for use while mounted on a horse, etc. Of some quality when made, a serious knife for close quarter fighting.

Blade marked Original Eickhorn Solingen with makers Squirrel mark. The billet seams are evident on the tang, which has a C over A inside a capital H. Lightly stained blade in places, with Mehr Fein Als Scheinen marked on the one side, lacking its scabbard.

Among the decoration to the blade is a family crest, brass hilt with VR & crown. A 1908 Troopers pattern cavalry sword with steel scabbard. Rust covered hilt though the Wilkinson blade is very clean, 35"" in length. Various markings to the blade, including P08, 9`15 etc.The metal scabbard has a similar rust covering, to the hilt and pommel.
