AN INDIAN FIGHTING KNIFE & SCABBARD, Brought back from mid 19thC India by an officer of the XXX11 M N I, with Boput Nagpore stamped on the blade. Of a bowie type the 11. 3/4"" blade was possibly purchased and carried by the officer himself. Antler hilt with steel pommel and guard, steel mounted leather covered scabbard with spring clip for use while mounted on a horse, etc. Of some quality when made, a serious knife for close quarter fighting.
THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS SWORD OF BRIG L M GIBBS CVO-DSO_MC A Wilkinson sword with Battle Honours and the initials in the cartouche of Brigadier Lancelot Merivale Gibbs. He carried the sword through both World wars, in India and at three Coronations. Number 42841, steel scabbard with paper wrapped outer, some light staining or rust. Also his silver hallmarked and bearing the initials L M G, swaggerstick with Coldstream Guards badge.
AN NPEA GERMAN DAGGER. A WW11 period German dagger NPEA issue, with plated mounts and aluminium eagle and swaztika in the brown wooden hilt. Blade marked Original Eickhorn Solingen with makers Squirrel mark. The billet seams are evident on the tang, which has a C over A inside a capital H. Lightly stained blade in places, with Mehr Fein Als Scheinen marked on the one side, lacking its scabbard.
TWO SWORDS. A Victorian Infantry Officers sword with steel scabbard. Levee pattern single-edged curved blade of 32.1/4"", with rust coating. Among the decoration to the blade is a family crest, brass hilt with VR & crown. A 1908 Troopers pattern cavalry sword with steel scabbard. Rust covered hilt though the Wilkinson blade is very clean, 35"" in length. Various markings to the blade, including P08, 9`15 etc.The metal scabbard has a similar rust covering, to the hilt and pommel.
A TURKISH OFFICERS SWORD. A Turkish Cavalry Officers sword, with lionhead pommel and stirrup hilt and crossed swords on the langet. Bone hilt with some wear damage, gilt to the ornate mounts and black scabbard with two sword mount loops. Curved single-edged 28.3/4"" blade with three quarter fullers.
A GERMAN HUNTSMANS SIDEARM. A Huntsmans sidearm made by F Horster of Solingen complete with scabbard. White grip with acorns inset, shell guard and acorn quillion, etched hunting scene on both sides of the 13"" blade. Gilt mounts to the hilt, traces of gilt to the brass and leather mounted scabbard.. A LUFTWAFFE OFFICERS DAGGER. A 1st pattern Luftwaffe Officers dagger, complete with scabbard and hanging chains and sprung clip. Nickel plated mounts with 49 stamped on the chafe Ges Gesch over a horizontal cartouche with OLC inside. Plated 12"" blade with Original Eickhorn Solingen and the Squirrel mark, 3 stamped on the crossguard. See Illustration.
A JAPANESE DAGGER. A Tanto dagger with unsigned blade, and lacquered scabbard with a kozuka present. Lightly decorated Fuchi & Kashira with ropework Tsuba, saya lacking chafe. The blade is 19thC 8.1/2"" in length with the very tip missing, , copper habaki with single insect menuki in the tsuka. The string binding to the hilt is partial, 15.1/2"" overall length.
