A 1940's Japanese military Katana, the cloth wrapped (tsuka ito) grip (tsuka) with sword decorations (menuki), bronze guard (tsuba), black lacquered scabbard (saya). The tang (nakago) with signature (mei) denoting SEKI JU MIKAWA KANETSUGU SAKU and made in Seki, together with a star mark. This sword was surrendered to 114715 CAPTAIN JAMES NICOL KIRKWOOD CLARKSON MBE of the Army Dental Corps. The lot also includes a brown leather scabbard / saya tip cover, a leather foul-weather handle cover, MBE medal and ephemera. This serviceman previously worked on "The Death Railway", Kanchanaburi. He cared for the troops' health, particularly their teeth.
