An antique early 19th century named Naval Dirk / Dagger, believed to be US / American in origin. Having a brass pommel engraved with anchor decoration and the inscription ' USS Enterprise Sailing Master James Bassett 1813 '. A ribbed bone handle with a chain stretching from the pommel to the guard. Floral etching to the curved blade, housed within original leather scabbard. Measures approx 47cm.The USS Enterprise was the third US ship to be named Enterprise was a schooner, built by Henry Spencer at Baltimore, Maryland, in 1799. Her first commander thought that she was too lightly built and that her quarters, in particular, should be bulletproofed. Enterprise was overhauled and rebuilt several times, effectively changing from a twelve-gun schooner to a fourteen-gun topsail schooner and eventually to a brig. Enterprise saw action in the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean again, capturing numerous prizes. She wrecked in July 1823.

The handle inset with the SA emblem to top and eagle with swastika below. Stamped with unit number 15/22077FR (Franken Group), matching to both the crossguard and the top of the scabbard. The double edged blade etched with Alles Fur Deutschland to one side and makers' lozenge to the other. A rare original example, generally in excellent used condition. Measures approx; 37cm long.

Presented within its original steel scabbard in brown, and retaining the original leather hangar. The hanger stamped ' RZ L2/338/41 to the leather and RZM marks to both clasps.
