AUG LUNEBURG OF KIEL; a 19th century Royal Naval officer's dress sabre, the pipe back blade with part damascened finish and signed to back base with twin squirrel stamped mark, blade length 78cm, the partly hinged brass guard bearing fouled anchor against acorn and leaf ground and inscribed underneath 'Pohland' (possibly), to wirework ivory hilt and brass back strap terminating in lion head pommel bearing two associated red coloured glass eyes, in associated two-ring metal scabbard.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationSome rubbing and marks to the blade, natural hairlines to the ivory, some further small chips and knocks. Tarnish and discolouration, as well as general wear, dust and dirt - especially to the hilt section. Scabbard heavily worn and should be considered af, has numerous holes, rust, corrosion and knocks. Scabbard is not original to the sword.

Chip and loss to ivory hilt, one upper corner, some further hairline cracks throughout. Some knocks and dents, as well as pitting to the scabbard.

CONDITION REPORT: This sword has been broken in half and has lost a significant portion of the blade and scabbard, the part that remains is in a worn condition. The symbol is an anchor with a snake around it.

Japanese 'Shin Gunto Sword', all metal construction, blade is marked in Japanese with the number 4612, blade length approximately 66cm, the grip is metal, not wrapped and does not have the usual corded grip with tang dowling pins present, the scabbard is all metal and bent/dented on the bottom 1/3rd
