British Army 1821 pattern Heavy Cavalry officer's sword by Wilkinson, blade length 87cm, with scabbard. Possibly formerly the property of Lieutenant (later Lieutenant Colonel) Alan William Berkley Spencer, 13th Hussars, later Tank Corps, who served with the 13th Hussars throughout the Second Boer War. He was present with the 13th Hussars at the battles of Spion Kop, Hussar Hill, Venter's Spruit as well as the Relief of Ladysmith
British Army 1822 pattern Infantry officer's sword by Wilkinson, VR cypher and bugle to 83cm blade, with scabbard. Possibly formerly the property of Sir Richard Nelson Rycroft, 5th Baronet Rycroft, who achieved the rank of Lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade. His time with this unit coincided with their involvement in the Mahsud Waziri expedition in 1881 and the Third Anglo-Burmese War in 1885 and it is highly likely that Rycroft was involved with one or both of these campaigns.
