Auctioneer's Note: After WWI Germany was forbidden an air force by the Treaty of Versailles however the Deutscher Luftsport-Verband (German Air-sport Association) was formed in March 1933 from various sports flying clubs and had branches for aeroplane, gliding and balloon flying. Under cover of the sporting DLV, many future Luftwaffe pilots trained to fly. DLV was embodied with the NSKK in March 1935 and on 1st March 1937 Luftwaffe was formed.Condition Report:Good condition consistent with age and use.Usual wear to plating of cross-guard and silvering of knot.Minor withdrawal scratching to blade.Scabbard throat with various post-war stamps and No.33.Mounts are plated on brass/tombac so possibly a post-war compilation.
