A German Third Reich Enlisted Man's or Non-Commissioned Officer's Artillery Sword, circa 1938-40, with double etched blade featuring regimental inscription '3. Battr. A.R. 55', opposed by two Third Reich eagles and swastikas, an Artillery train and foliate motifs, with portepee and scabbard, blade length 87cm, overall length 99.5cm (one side of scabbard painted white post-war) Notes: Artillery Regiment 55 was a heavy artillery regiment. The 3rd Battery (1st Battalion) was set up in October 1938 under the leadership of First Lieutenant Nonnig. On 1st September 1939, the regiment marched across the Polish border in the Rosenberg district (Upper Silesia) and took part in the Polish campaign. After remaining in the Warsaw area for a month, they were loaded and transported west at the end of October 1939 before a period of training and eventually advancing into Holland in May 1940. The western campaign passed with few losses. In late 1940 the I.Abteilung was used to form the II.Abteilung of Artillerie Regiment 117 which was part of the 111.Infanterie-Division.BUYER MUST BE OVER THE AGE OF 18.

A British pre-regulation Infantry Officer's sabre retailed by Prosser (Charing Cross, London), circa 1796-1803, plain stirrup hilt, with a curved blade double-edged toward the point, the stirrup hilt with two lion's head langets and a lion's head pommel, wire-bound fish-skin grip, black leather brass-mounted scabbard engraved with retailers details and monogrammed initials, the locket and band with suspension loops, blade length 79cm, overall length 92cm (a.f)Condition:Blade condition is generally poor with patches of rust and lots of dark grey spots. There are quite a few scratches to the blade in areas approximately 1/3rd and 2/3rds of the way down. The hilt is missing some shagreen on one side and has lots of built-up verdigris and grime on the metal furniture.The scabbard is worn and has areas of damage to the leather. The leather is flexible and has been treated gently with some beeswax balm but in general, it needs more attention and and restoration. The chape is also slightly loose and can be pulled off the top of the scabbard if not handled carefully. There are dents to the chape. All of the metal mounts are generally scratched.
