Fine Officer’s Sword of the Sussex Artillery Militia by Wilkinson No.23489, regulation signed blade etched with crowned VR and royal cypher, regimental device and title, and owner’s crest, regulation bright steel triple bar guard, silver wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 suspension rings. Blade 89cms. Fine condition, blade retaining nearly all original polish. Wilkinson ledger confirms sold to M. Fisher, 27-01-1880.

St. James St. London W, etched and mirror polished with martial trophy, laurel wreath and scrolling foliage, regulation ormolu hilt retaining all its original gilding, crown-shaped pommel, silver wire bound grip and applied silver crowned royal cipher and laurel, bullion dress knot embroidered with roses, in its black patent leather scabbard, ormolu mounts engraved with fruiting oak; together with its red Morocco leather backed silver bullion belt and hanger embroidered with fruiting oak, silvered belt buckle with rose and fruiting oak, and fine pair of silver bullion epaulettes in their red velvet lined japanned tin case, the whole preserved in close to mint condition. Good Victorian 1846 Pattern Naval Officer’s Sword by Batten & Adams, Devonport c.1850, signed regulation blade etched and polished with crowned Royal Arms, and fouled anchor amidst scrolling foliage, regulation gilt brass with lion’s head pommel, crowned fouled anchor in guard and with sprung folding sideguard, wire bound sharkskin covered grip, in its leather scabbard with gilt mounts, locket with 2 hanging rings signed on the reverse, retaining its original bullion dress knot. Blade 74cms. Good condition, hilt and scabbard mounts retain virtually all original gilding.
Fine 1845 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword by STOHWASSER Conduit St LONDON, signed regulation single edge blade etched with crowned VR cypher, scrolls, POW plumes and retaining virtually all its original polish, regulation gilt brass hilt retaining virtually all its original gilding, solid guard with crowned VR and the union flowers, patent leather lining, wire bound black fish skin grip, bullion dress knot with 3 crimson lines, in its brass dress scabbard. 1845 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword of Major General T.D. Carpenter (Madras Infantry), regulation blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, un-numbered (pre-1854) etched with the crowned VR cypher amidst scrolling foliage and sharpened for field service, regulation pattern hilt retaining some original gilding, folding sideguard, wire bound fishskin covered grip, in its brass scabbard. Blade 83cms. Preserved in untouched condition this sword would benefit from careful cleaning. An old and credible handwritten label reads "Another sword of Major Genl Thos David Carpenter Has also seen much service -especially in Band and Kirklace (?) campaign signed M S Lamb." Thomas David Carpenter, Madras Infantry 29 August 1859, Major General of H.M. Indian Forces (from 1860 Army List).
Scarce British Victorian Naval Officer’s Sword of Flag Rank, ‘claymore’ blade 28.5” etched with crowned Royal Arms, fouled anchor and foliage, regulation gilt brass mounts, guard with crowned fouled anchor surrounded by a laurel wreath, folding side guard, lion head pommel, wire bound white fish skin covered grip, bullion dress knot (incomplete), in its leather scabbard with regulation mounts cross banded with fruiting oak, in an oilskin sword bag. Good condition, some age wear, retains approximately 85% original gilding.
1845 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword by Wilkinson No.26527, regulation signed blade sharpened for field service etched with crowned VR amidst scrolls and with owner’s initials AB within scrolls (believed Balfour family), regulation brass hilt, wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its iron scabbard with twin hanging rings. Blade 83cms. Good clean condition.

Very Fine Victorian 1827 Pattern Presentation Sword of the Derbyshire Rifle Volunteers, regulation blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London No. 10614 finely etched and mirror polished with crowned VR cypher, Sudbury 2nd Derbyshire VI Rifle Volunteers amidst foliage together with ‘Lord Vernon to Robert Booth’ beneath Lord Vernon's crest and motto, regulation steel guard and dress scabbard of blued steel, fish skin covered silver wire bound grip. Blade 82cms. The blade is preserved in almost mint condition and represents Wilkinson's best work. The hilt and scabbard retain much original blued finish. Fine condition, some staining to original blued finish, blade in close to mint condition.
Very Unusual Javanese Dagger Badek c.1800, bone hilt carved as a veiled Durga showing only her hair encased beneath pierced scroll work, short silver guard and scabbard mounts engraved with foliage against a cross-hatched ground (probably Chinese work), locket with belt hook, broad straight single edge blade showing extraordinary pattern welding. Blade 27cms, overall 39cms. Good condition and age patina, small chip to back edge of scabbard.
