A 19th century (or earlier) Indonesian / Javanese kris: the highly stylised carved and patinated geometric handle (possibly marine ivory and much earlier) reminiscent of an early helmet with nose and cheek-guard, typical wavy (now rusty blade) locating into a wooden and engraved metal-mounted scabbard (total length 44.5 cm including handle)
An unusual late 19th to early 20th century dual purpose knife and scabbard: 21.8 cm slender blade with engraved decoration; turned wooden handle iron nut pommel wand shagreen finger grip; turned tapering wooden scabbard with a riding-crop-type keeper (49.5 cm from pommel to end of scabbard (excluding the keeper)).
A Japanese katana (long sword): quatrefoil-shaped cast silvered brass or bronze tsuba decorated in relief with a water dragon, the scaly body creating 'ripples'; the tsuka (handle) with tsuka ito (cord wrap) around same (ray skin); the patinated brass kashira (pommel) decorated in relief with prunus blossom; the 67cm blade locating into a red lacquerware wooden scabbard which locates further into a brown-stitched leather scabbard with brass obitori. (Full length from tip of handle to scabbard end 96.5 cm)Provenance: Consigned by the family of Major Dennis Charles William Lord (1920-2004).Condition Report: 1. Handle binding in good order.2. Outer leather scabbard stained and wear a leather ring (A/F) commensurate with age and use.3. Inner red scabbard with cover detached 3 cms, scuffs and rubbing and a rectangular section missing (see images).4. Tsuba loose and patinated otherwise good.5. Blade with very minor pitting and corrosion commensurate with age and use.

(101.5 cm from scabbard end to end of pommel.) Blade cutting edge 64.5 cms.Provenance: Consigned by the family of Major Dennis Charles William Lord (1920-2004).Condition Report: 1. Handle grip shark skin holed (see image).Binding in good order but dirty.2. Tsuba in good patinated order and loose fitting.3. A Dyak sword, mandau, swollen SE blade 21", with some pierced decoration along the edges and brass inlay on one side, bone hilt of traditional form with hair tufts (worn), in its raffia and bone panelled scabbard, the bone carved with animals, demons and stylized foliage, raffia shoulder loop.
