A Japanese Katana sword, with lacquered scabbard with gold coloured metal mounts, the tsuba with gold coloured metal inlay, the blade signed beneath the handle. Blade length to tsuba 40 cm, overall length 55.5 cm. This bladed product is not for sale to people under the age of 18. By bidding on this item you are declaring that you are 18 years of age or over. Please note that if you require P&P for this lot, this can only be done using an age verified method (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The hilt has cracks in places and some losses. The finger and hand guard are loose. The blade and hilt are attached securely. There are significant areas of wear to the scabbard as well as some loss to the gilding. The blade itself has some very small areas of pitting with some small losses or indentations to the point of the blade.

The kit bag belonged to Sgt Plant.Wear and markings to the scabbard. Cannot remove the grip to show the tang and press stud does function. The scabbard does not seem out of shape or dented. The blade has slight chipping along the cutting edge near the top - see images. The cutting edge from the point to the top of the metal guard is 66cm. The length of the blade to the metal guard is 65cm.

No maker's name visible.The blade shows odd small nick to the edge, wear to the tip and tarnishing across the surface. The engraved decoration shows increasing wear to the gilt highlight as it moves from hilt to tip. The hilt shows rubbing to the gilt surface, particularly along the facet edges. The grip appears to be complete and intact.

There is a typed sheet outlining a connection with the album and the bayonet possibly linking the bayonet to a Thomas Morris who served in the Royal Marines
