The kit bag belonged to Sgt Plant.Wear and markings to the scabbard. Cannot remove the grip to show the tang and press stud does function. The scabbard does not seem out of shape or dented. The blade has slight chipping along the cutting edge near the top - see images. The cutting edge from the point to the top of the metal guard is 66cm. The length of the blade to the metal guard is 65cm.

No maker's name visible.The blade shows odd small nick to the edge, wear to the tip and tarnishing across the surface. The engraved decoration shows increasing wear to the gilt highlight as it moves from hilt to tip. The hilt shows rubbing to the gilt surface, particularly along the facet edges. The grip appears to be complete and intact.
Militaria, 1917 Remington Sword Bayonet for the Model 1917 30-06 Rifle. Complete in leather scabbard. Ricasso marked ‘1917 Remington’ on one side and U.S, Flaming Grenade with eagles head and inspection marked 25 on the other. Steel Pommel with oil hole, rounded slab walnut grips held by slot head bolts and slotted round nuts (vg). Sold together with a scrap album outlining a visit to Ypres in the 1980s. There is a typed sheet outlining a connection with the album and the bayonet possibly linking the bayonet to a Thomas Morris who served in the Royal Marines
