A Japanese Sword, Katana, by Musashi Taro Yasukuni. This sword came from a local estate and is most probably a wartime souvenir. All the fittings are WWII regulation for officer's swords and show wear commensurate with campaign service (scabbard chape lost) The blade is of much older manufacture as is sometimes found with Japanese swords. The tang signature has been translated and reads on one side 'Musashi Taro Yasokuni' and on the other 'Shin Jugo Mai Kobuse Saku' which is a method of forging by folding the metal fifteen times. The blade is in good condition and the intricate temper line is clearly seen
