*Sword and Uniform. Victorian Court sword and Uniform of William Garnett Botfield (1816-1903), comprising long rectangular uniform tin, the lid with brass plaque engraved 'W Garnett Botfield Esq', enclosing black velvet coatee, breeches, socks and shoe buckles together with dress sword, the 79.5cm triangular hollow steel blade etched Thomas & Sons, 39 Brook St London. W.' with cut steel shell guard and hilt with knucklebow, 96cm long overall, in its black leather scabbard with steel mounts plus a hand coloured photograph of Botfield wearing the uniform plus a pipe scroll dated 1805 inscribed in ink to William Botfield as Sheriff of Shropshire William Bishton Garnett Botfield (1816-1903) was a Church of England clergyman who resided at Decker Hill, Shifnal, Shropshire. He was born at Nantwich as William Bishton Garnett and assumed the additional name Botfield by royal licence in 1863. He notably represented the University of Oxford at cricket, scoring 22 runs (including the top score in the second innings) against the MCC at Oxford on 6-7 June 1839 in his sole First Class appearance. A number of his effects are now held in the Shropshire Archives. (1)

Naga tribe items, comprising a Yatee hat, a Bopa hat, Apatani tribe quiver and arrows plus machete in its wooden scabbard, Apatani haversack basket, plus a woven jacket The Apatani tribe lives in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, on the frontier with Assam and the Nagaland area of Burma, known for their bamboo and cane weaving. These items were collected by a tea planter in the 1930s. (a carton)
An 18th Century American Naval Sword. With chased and etched blade, marked in 'proof of friendship from Henry Walton Esq. to John Wardell ' approximately 74cm, with leather wire bound grip and metal scabbard. This sword was the property of American Naval captain John Wardell, who following the Battle of Long Island in 1776 and the subsequent fall of New York was interned in the notorious British Prison ship The Jersey in New York harbour. Thus sword was taken from Captain Wardell by a British Officer upon his capture and interment on The Jersey and brought to England as a trophy of war and thus by desent.

German Third Reich Luftwaffe 1st pattern Officer’s dagger by Puma, Solingen.A good example with twist wire bound blue leather grip, nickel plated mounts with gilt mobile swastika to centre of pommel and down swept crossguard on both sides. Double edged polished blade bearing Puma logo. Housed in its dark blue leather covered scabbard with plated mounts and hanging chains with spring clip with OLC diamond logo (Overhoff & Cie, Lüdenscheid). Service wear and and external parts dull. Ill fitting grip. Blade VGCIntroduced in 1935, superseded by 2nd pattern July, 1937.

WW1 Imperial German Model 1889 Trooper’s Private Purchase Cavalry Sword.A good example with etched decoration to the blade. This includes the Imperial Eagle and Thropies of War. The hilt is of the regulation pattern incorporating an Imperial Eagle. Complete with original scabbard this being post 1906 with a single fixed loop. Etching to the blade clear slight age wear.
Important German Third Reich 1933 model SS dagger with full Rohm inscription by Eichorn, Solingen.A rare fully authenticated example, the blade obverse etched “Meine Ehre heist Treue” (My Honour is Loyalty), the reverse bearing “In herzlicher Freundschaft Ernst Rohm” inscription and small oval Eickhorn squirrel logo. Black wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and enamelled circular SS Sigrunen, the crossguard impressed I (for Munich area), the underside with issue number. Housed in original lacquered anodised nickel mounted scabbard with single suspension ring retaining buckled strap with spring clip and belt loop. Minor dents to scabbard and minor service wear. GCFollowing Hitler’s purge of the SA during “The Night of the Long Knives”, Röhm was shot at Stadelheim Prison by SS-Obersturmbannführer Michael Lippert on 2nd July, 1934, An order dated July 4th required all Rohm inscriptions to be obliterated from the blades, failure to do so risked severe punishment so very few daggers with the inscription remain.
