German Nazi Third Reich Kreigsmarine naval officers' dagger by F.W. Holler Solingen, presented to and owned by Adalbert Schnee, with wire bound white grip, eagle pommel, anchor to cross guard set with button scabbard release and 25.1cm double edged stiletto damascene blade with inscription to one side 'Herrn Oberleutnant zur See Schnee Zur Erinnerung von Deinen Eltern' (Adalbert Schnee, son-in-law of Grossadmiral Donitz, Adolf Hitler's successor, was born in Berlin on 31st December 1913 and joined the navy in 1934, going on to captain various U-boats including U-6 U-60 U-121 U-201 U-2511 and being regarded as one of the best U-boat captains in German history. He was awarded the Knights Cross with oak leaves for his service and died in Hamburg November 1982.) Both sides of the blade profusely decorated and depicting a U-boat emerging from the water, in original scabbard with two braces both holding suspension rings (overall length 42cm)
