In its scabbard similarly decorated for most of its length. GC (top of pommel missing, slight damage to silver sheet binding of scabbard in two places)

A good George V courtsword, slender DE blade 28¾”, etched with foliate panels, halberds and “Cooling Lawrence & Sons 47 Madox St London W”, retains virtually all original polish, gilt hilt with crown over GRV and leaf spray, crown pommel, wire binding, in its gilt mounted black PL scabbard, gilt mostly very fresh. Near VGC (slight crazing to PL, gilt worn on chape) Plate 6
An interesting Balkan shortsword, possibly Albanian, SE blade 18”, with scratchwork inscriptions and date 1823, pale brass shallow pistol shaped grip with crossguard, in velvet covered scabbard, the long brass chape and locket with prominent applied motifs, including crowned double headed eagle, head of ancient Greek warrior, eagle, etc. Basically GC (some wear and minor damage). A Geo naval dirk, DE blade 11½”, with deep central fuller, etched with trophies and florets, and retaining some original blueing and gilding (mostly in the fullers), flattened gilt S shaped crossguard, rectangular section ivory grip with similar gilt lower band and pommel with pronounced button, in its leather scabbard with locket and ring (chape missing), GC, the mounts retaining approx 30% original gilding (rust patches to blade)

An interesting officer’s sword of a rifle regiment c 1902, straight fullered blade 32½” with German stamp of WK & C at forte and name of Baxter & Co Oxford St W, etched with crowned reversed and interlaced VR cypher, Royal Arms and wreath, within scrolled panels, regulation steel hilt incorporating KC strung bugle, stepped pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, with a leather knot, in limp brown leather scabbard with large steel locket and loop, marked “Registered”. GC (edge nicks to blade, tip AF)

Basically GC (worn overall)
A Geo V officer’s 1821 pattern sword of The R Artillery, almost staight blade 34”, by Hawkes & Co Sword Cutlers 1, Savile Row, London W1, etched with crowned R Arms, GVR cypher, “Ubique”, cannon, winged lightning and “Royal Artillery”, in ornamental panels, plated hilt with knucklebow, sideloop and 2 sidebars, stepped pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard (cleaned) with 2 rings. GC (some service wear)
A 1796 pattern light cavalry officer’s sword, curved shallow fullered blade 33”, marked “Jackson’s Warranted Double Proof” on backstrap at forte and etched with GR cypher 1801-16 R Arms and supporters, trophies and flourishes, regulation steel stirrup hilt with langets, knucklebow, plain pommel and backstrap, fishskin grip (wire missing), in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. GC, the blade retaining a little original gilding (some dark rust patina overall). Plate 6

An interesting 1821 pattern light cavalry trooper’s sword, made for export to Spain for the Civil War during the reign of Isabella II (1833-68), slightly curved, fullered blade 33”, with ordnance stamp at forte and deeply struck crowned cypher of Isabella II, regulation steel hilt with flat knucklebow, sideloop, 2 sidebars, forward sloping pommel and plain backstrap with ears, wirebound leather covered grip (chipped at top) in its steel scabbard marked “Mole”. Basically GC (some wear overall, small splits to scabbard and rings missing)

GC, the blade with a little original polish (light pitting to scabbard)
