19TH C FRENCH DIRK WITH SCABBARD - Ceremonial French Dirk, or single edged dagger with canted blade having shaped stem, with silver inlay and blued detailing, tapered cylindrical ebony handle with steel fittings (some corrosion), original brass fitted brown leather scabbard with gilt decoration, single hanger, 16 3/8" long overall, 9 1/4" blade, good condition, minor spotting to blade, wear to scabbard.
RARE HAN DYNASTY SWORD BLADE IN DECORATED LACQUER BOX-The blade, unmounted, of bronze with a keen edge, bears archaic bird script characters inlaid in gold. It is sheathed in a wooden scabbard wrapped in lacquered silk strips. The domed lidded case is of wood, decorated in black and red lacquer with carved fluted ends and a grid patterned middle section bearing comma- shaped elements carved in low relief. The surface is decorated further with exquisitely painted linear designs extending along the sides and ends of the case. Sometimes referred to as a Spare Blade, this example would have been put into service to replace a blade damaged in battle. In a remarkable state of preservation. Blade length 26 1/2" (67.3 cm). Case dimensions: 5" (12.7 cm) tall x 29 1/4" (74.3 cm) long x 4" (10.2 cm) wide.
A VICTORIAN SCOTTISH ANTLER HANDLED SGIAN DUKH by Ferguson & Macblan, Inverness, with white metal mount and round cut citrine type stone to the pommel, the steel blade enclosed by a leather covered scabbard with white metal mounts. 19cm(L)Pommel stone loose, white metal mount loose, knocks to blade edge, tarnishing, splits to scabbard leather covering.
AN EASTERN WHITE METAL AND STEEL KNIFE, the handle embossed with foliate detail, housed in a leather scabbard along with an eastern steel scribes tool with niello type geometric decoration, and an Indian palm leaf manuscript, hand written with illustrations to one side, between wooden covers. Scribes tool and knife probably associated, pitting to each, the palm leaf strips with slight deterioration and some discolouration throughout.
