A small Northern Sumatran Kris and scabbard, overall length 27 cm; together with a circular cash (possibly Chinese or Vietnamese), decorated with four characters, 10.5 cm diameter; and a Japanese alloy or antimony dish decorated with a kacho-ga of birds and flowers, about 12 cm square (3) Provenance: The Property of a Gentleman. The Kris was presented to him in about 1979 by His Excellency, Mussakar Walad, Governor of Aceh (North Sumatra).Please note that there are some areas of metal fatigue, wear, deterioration and bruising; some wear to the gilding of the Kris extant.
CHINESE SHORT SWORD MID 19TH CENTURY The brass handgrip has intricate brass ornamentation which includes a Chinese dragon. The blade is good with a few age marks. The black leather scabbard has a number of highly ornamented brass fittings which incorporate the Chinese dragon. The handgrip is bound with thin tape. All brass ornamentation is darkly tarnished.
AN INDONESIAN DHAL MID 19TH CENTURY The blade is in very good condition and razor sharp. A repeat design is engraved along the back edges of both sides of the blade. The sword handle is made from a small ivory tusk (loose). The scabbard is covered with patinated silver sheet metal with a series of milled-silver, multiple bands interspersed with medallions on both sides, but the front side medallions have a floral addition. The top of the scabbard is bound with thick green cord (probably original) terminating in two taselled knots which are worn.
THE SHORT SWORD COLLECTION A British Naval Cutlass bayonet 1875 as used in the Zulu War. The blade and handguard have been chromed and the scabbard is lacking, blade cut down. Blade length : 64cm ? A German Falchion (hunting sword) with varnish with fanned shape handguard. A kings head is stamped on the blade, circa 1780. No scabbard. Blade length: 56cm ? A Child's Court Sword circa 1890 without scabbard. Blade length: 50cm ? A diplomatic/court sword Circa 1920 to 1930. The brass fittings to handgrip and scabbard are highly decorated with a brass floral design and coat of arms in a vignette. The blade is intricately etched and is in good condition. The cross on the blade and hilt would suggest a Swiss sword. The ivory handgrip is damaged. Blade length: 75cm.

BRITISH VICTORIAN LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD Henry Wilkinson (maker) 1821 Pattern Name of owner "F.T.C. Hughes" etched on blade with crowned Victorian cypher on both sides of blade, with decoration deep rust patches, handguard and hilt aged. Black leather scabbard with repair to leather of chape. Metal top Sold to Francis Townshend Cunninghame Hughes Esq when he joined the Cheshire Regt. He then transferred to the Indian army and retired as a Lieut-Col. He was first commissioned May 1885. He ended his career being employed by the Bombay Mint and retired as assay master Bombay Mint 1921.
VICTORIAN INFANTRY OFFICERS SWORD Henry Wilkinson (maker of blade) name and proof mark erased but retains Wilkinson number 1845 Infantry Pattern Queen Victoria's cypher on both sides of blade. Handguard of unknown pattern (palm tree in cartouche and floral decoration to outer side bars). The hilt is probably a replacement. Black steel scabbard, This belonged to H.J. Lermitte of the 5th Dragoons and Royal Scots Fusiliers. Lermitte took part in the charge at Laing's Nek during the first Anglo-Boer War and was also present at Ingogo River battle. When his horse was shot from under him at Laing's Nek, he lost his sword.
VICTORIAN BRITISH INFANTRY OFFICERS SWORD Henry Wilkinson maker with patent hilt 1897 pattern blade and handguard marked with King Edward VII Cypher and owners initials. Presentation inscription etched on blade as follows: "Presented to Sergeant R H Haseldine by officers 1st Middelsex Regiment, December 1903" in leather Sam Browne Scabbard. Hilt and blade worn with plating of handguard defective. Served in South Africa 1896-98 and India 1898-1903 and then West Africa 1905-6. Retired as Lieut-Colonel.

VR Cypher on both sides of etched blade and owners crest, complete with sword knot, dented steel scabbard painted black (paint peeling), blade marked with significant rust patches. Sword made for A W Cole Esq of the Royal South Middelsex Regiment of Militia 1867.

JAPANESE KATANAS SWORD WITH TSUBA Early 20th Century sword of the type carried by Japanese officers during World War II. The wooden scabbard is perhaps a family scabbard that was fitted to the sword. The mottled scabbard covering has pealed off for the last 15cm to scabbard tip. The blade surface has old congealed vaseline.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: St. Etienne, Round, rifled, finished (refreshed), 11 mm cal. barrel, with square base, with adjustable rear sight, fore-sight and clutch for a bayonet; forward spring lock signed 'F.x ESCOFFIER ENTREP.R de la M.re D'ARMES S.T ETIENNE'; wooden, full stock with iron mounts and ramrod. Stamps. Complete with yatagan-bayonet with scabbard. length 124 cm.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Balkans, Long, single-edged blade with large fuller, the base with deep, Arabic mark; grip with dark, horn grip scales (chipping on the ears), beautiful, silver mounts, decorated with trophies and floral motifs in bass-relief. Wooden, leather-covered scabbard, stitched with metallic thread, white metal cap and chape. length 82.5 cm.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Turkey, Slightly curved, single-edged blade with stamp, Arabic inscription and floral and geometrical decorations; grip and base covered with silver foil, engraved and nielloed with floral and geometrical motifs. Small parts missing and defects. Later scabbard. length 71 cm.
dating: second quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Balkans, Straight, single-edged blade with thin groove on the back; metal hilt decorated with filigree and with red, cabochon stones. Walrus ivory grip scales richly decorated with nails and metallic disks. Wooden, leather-covered scabbard with brass foil mounts, embossed with floral motifs. length 48.5 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Turkey, Curved, single-edged blade with 'T' back, featuring a double decoration with a slightly relieved arrow on both sides towards the tip; on both sides a silver inlaid decoration with geometrical and floral motifs, featuring on the right side a short inscription in Arabic. Base slightly enlarged and silver inlaid. White metal grip decorated with relieved roses. Brown horn grip scales (one with reparation) with low and enlarged ears. Antique, wooden scabbard covered with leather stitched with metallic thread, with white metal ring-nut (small detachment) and chape. length 74,3 cm.
