A late 18th century light company officer’s service sword, plain steeply curved, flat blade 26”, DE at point, pronounced steel stirrup hilt, the crossguard with langets, into knucklebow and plain forward sloping pommel and backstrap, ribbed leather (worn) covered grip, in its steel scabbard (some shallow dents) with 2 rings, marked “Prosser....” (unclear) with dress knot (worn). Basically GC for age.
A 1796 pattern light cavalry trooper’s sword, broad curved shallow fullered blade 32½”, marked “Iosh.H. Reddell & Co” on backstrap, and with inspector’s stamp at forte, regulation steel hilt with langets, knucklebow, plain pommel and backstrap with “ears”, leather covered ribbed grip, in its steel scabbard (one or two minor dents) with 2 rings. GC, with a good dark patina to hilt and scabbard.
A sheet silver mounted Burmese dha, slightly curved, swollen SE blade 12½”, hilt and scabbard of traditional form, sheet silver covered overall, with finely wirebound grip, and filigree bands, those at the end of the scabbard set with 2 finely worked rosettes on each side, scarlet cord centre binding with belt loop. dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Sumatra, Blade with a quite rare pamor drawing, in miring technique, a similar drawing at the base with a curl, called pamor on the buntet, a pamor bulu ayam or hen feathers in the lower part, while in the upper one there are diagonal pamor lines buntil mayit. Horn hilt with a stylized hornbill head and finely chiselled and pierced with geometrical motifs, rattan-covered grip. Hard-wood scabbard covered with rattan strips. length 60 cm.
