An Imperial German officer’s dress sword, curved, pipe backed blade 32”, double edged at point, etched and gilt for half length with elaborate floral and foliate panels, and maker’s name “M. Neumann, Hoflieferaut (Purveyor to the Court) Berlin” along the back edge, false damascus to lower half of blade, elaborate gilt hilt with crossguard and quillon, langets, knucklebow, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, with ornamental panels and foliate devices overall, and coat of arms to centre of knucklebow, wirebound fishskin grip, with its steel scabbard with 2 brass bands and rings, retaining a little original plating (light surface rust). Generally Very Good Condition, retaining most original gilt. Plate 19
A 1796 pattern light cavalry officer’s sword, broad, curved, shallow fullererd blade 32½”, etched and blued and gilt for two thirds length with crowned 1801-16 Royal Arms with supporters and motto, trophy of arms, etc, and Union spray, on one side, and on the other with crowned GR cypher, trophy of instruments etc, mounted horseman and flourishes, steel stirrup hilt with crossguard and langets, pronounced knucklebow, plain forward sloping pommel and backstrap, ribbed fishskin (worn) grip, in its steel scabbard (worn and pitted, one ring missing). Sword Good Condition, the blade retaining approx 70% blueing and gilding. Plate 19

Very Good Condition for age, retaining approx 75% blueing and gilding to blade and 85% gilt to hilt and scabbard mounts (few rust patches to blade) Plate 19
An 1803 Royal Naval officer’s sword, slender, shallow diamond section blade 27½”, etched and blued and gilt for two thirds length with crown, GR cypher and stylized foliage on one side and trophy of arms in stylized foliage on the other, gilt stirrup hilt with crossguard engraved with foliate panels, pronounced knucklebow into flattened lion’s head pommel with flowing mane backstrap, slightly swollen wirebound chequered ivory grip, in its black leather (limp and fractured) scabbard with stylized foliate engraved locket, middle band and chape, 2 rings, the locket maker’s name “Salter, Sword Cutler and Jeweller to HRH the Duke of Sussex, 35 Strand London”. Very Good Condition for age, the blade retaining virtually all original finish, the hilt and scabbard mounts approx 60% gilt. Plate 19
A replica of a Third Reich Luftwaffe General’s sword with Goring dedication inscription on the blade, by WKC Solingen, plated blade 32" etched with panels of scrolls, and with blued and gilt panels inscribed “Der Oberbefehlshaber den Luftwaffe Hermann Goring” on one side and “In dankbarer Anerkennung” on the other side, gilt hilt with folding guard mounted leather scabbard. A William IV 1822 pattern infantry officer’s sword, slightly curved, pipe backed blade 32", well etched on both sides in panel with crowned reversed and interlaced WR cypher with “IV” and wreath, and at forte on both sides with “Prosser Maker to the King & Royal Family, London” in frosted panel, brass hilt retaining a little original gilt, incorporating crowned WR IV cypher, with turn down inner portion, stepped pommel, foliate backstrap with thumbpiece, wirebound, fishskin grip, original dress knot (worn), in its brown leather scabbard, with engraved locket and frog stud, and chape, with traces of gilt. A Georgian Naval officers hanger, flat, sharply curved blade 21", double edged towards point, lightly etched for half length on both sides with trophy of arms and foliate flourishes, gilt mounted hilt with flattened shallow S shaped crossguard, small chain link up to flattened lion’s head and mane pommel and backstrap, chequered ivory grip (crack to left side) in its polished leather scabbard with brass locket, middle band and chape, 2 rings, the locket engraved “Bond 45 Cornhill”. Good Condition retaining approx 40% gilt and traces to scabbard (a little light pitting to blade) Plate 20

Marvin S Kite A.A.F” in scroll, blued steel crossguard and chequered swollen grip, in its leather scabbard with tags, belt tang and blued chape; with photostat details of Lt. Kite who was based in the UK and flew 35 missions as a Pilot in B-24 bombers, married his English sweetheart Doris May, etc. Very Good Condition Details with lot. Plate 20

Juin 1857 = S.O. d’Infrie de la Garde Mle 1854”, brass hilt, the slender ovoid guard with reinforced edges and sideloop, into knucklebow and forward sloping cap shaped pommel, with ornamental quillon, bands, and wreath to pommel, inspector’s stamps to knucklebow, wirebound darkwood grip. GC (small edge knocks to blade, no scabbard). Plate 3

Flight, Winchester, etched on both sides in panels with crowned VR cypher, and crossed baton and sword with wreaths above and below, regulation hilt with ornamental crossguard and langets incorporating crossed baton and sword in wreath, semi pistol grip with rosette studs, hole for knot, and ornamental backstrap, in its brass scabbard (dented at point) with 2 ornamental bands and rings. GC, the blade VGC, retaining virtually all original polish (tiny chip to one grip, traces only of gilt to hilt). Plate 3
A 19th century Burmese sword dha, slightly curved, SE blade 23½”, swollen towards point, the shallow full length central fuller on each side with silver damascened foliate scrolls, the three quarter length tapered back edge with similar zig zag line, white sharkskin grip with (faintly) foliate Eastern silver lower band and pommel, in its brown wood scabbard (AF). A .577” Volunteer Snider 3 band rifle by Reilly, 55” overall, barrel 36½” with London proofs and Enfield inspector’s mark, the breech block having “Snider Patent” mark; lock bearing crowned “VR” and “1865” over “L.A. Co” and engraved “E.M. Reilly & Co, New Oxford St, London”; walnut fullstock with brass mounts, trigger guard with eyelet securing chain and nipple protector, and numbered 10,021; with single sling swivel, original steel ramrod, muzzle plug, German silver rearsight cover stamped “Snider”, and with registration mark, and triangular socket bayonet (no scabbard), Good Working Order and Condition, the barrel retaining much original blued finish (bayonet socket lightly pitted). Accompanying this lot is a “Firearms Form 7” exempting it from requiring to be sold on a firearms certificate as it is classed as a “trophy”, dated March 1922. Plate 33
A .577/450” Mark II Martini Henry rifle, 49½” overall, barrel 33” with Birmingham proofs and government sale mark; action stamped “Martini Patent Proprietors” on the left side and on the right side “N.A. & A.Co Ltd 1878” (National Arms and Ammunition Co Ltd), broad arrow and “QC” (Queensland Constabulary?), and serial number 391; walnut fullstock, butt stamped with Enfield storekeeper’s mark, date 1889, “V/5./Man/332” (5th Volunteer Bn the Manchester Regt), and government sale mark; with sling swivels, original steel cleaning rod, triangular socket bayonet in scabbard, and later webbing sling. Good Working Order and Condition (some wear, slot cut in the barrel at breech) Plate 33
Features ornate root wood grip, carved in basket weave fashion on the outside, cast silver and chased pommel with thistles and foliage, the pierced pommel set with a very light brown citrine/stone. The 31 cm long blade, being of steel, with spear tip and cutting top edge. Blade features acid-etched engravings to both sides, in overall excellent condition, with regimental number, piper, foliage, arms etc. The scabbard of black leather, with solid silver fittings/holders for the fork & knife. The eating fork & knife (the latter maker stamped G. Noewbould) of root wood with basket weave design with white citrine stones to pommel. There may have been a regimental designation at one time to top locket, but since removed showing 4 fixing holes. Rear of scabbard retains belt loop attachment. A fine & rare piece, with exceptional engravings to both sides of blade. Metal parts show yellowing, so possibly plated silver on brass, however this has not been tested.
